You could be right, but the few I saw there last November when I was in Texas were all petrol.

The one that I want is a Range Rover Sport with the TDV8. That would be an awsome machine.

Yeah but not as good off road I'd venture, and not as much interior space.

There's NOTHING quite like the fantastic driving position from the newer Rangies. I drove Tim's and it impressed the hell out of me.

And it's a crappy "old" one.... LOL Tim. (just kidding mate !)
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

About the middle of last year, both diesel and hydrogen gas became available at service stations, in California, so I guess they must have changed their laws.

Nice wouldn't mind trading my 4.0Ltr V8 engine in for one of them.

Vlad you have no idea how relevant that statement actually is.

There have been huge changes in the RR’s electronics alone, since got mine.

    Cheers.

Quite possible, but not necessarily - heavy vehicles have been allowed diesel engines, and of course there is nothing to stop interstate visitors. But it is likely that diesel sold in California is ultra low sulphur.

Since writing the above I have done a quick search - see http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006...es_of_vw_.html
and it appears that the sale of passenger cars with diesel engines is still banned, although sales of heavy pickups with diesel engines are doing well. Reading between the lines, the availability of diesel you quote above must refer to low sulphur diesel, as there are clearly large numbers of diesel users in California, just not passenger cars (Is the D3 a passenger car?)

VladTepes - RRS is based on Discovery 3 platform, which is superior off road to the Vogue.

I can't argue with the interior space comment, but I would still go the Sport.

It wouldnt suprise me, i did read somewhere that they were going to offer the TDV6 in the US but didnt expect to sell many because it wasnt a big powerful V8. Matt

Although petrol engined pickups way outnumber diesel ones in Texas there are a few diesels about - but none with as few as six cylinders - seem to be V8 or V10 from about 5.5 to 8 litres. Typically driving a dual wheel twin cab pickup about twenty-five feet long - with a payload of about a quarter of a ton. (I may be exaggerating, but only slightly)
