Mines a very long and convoluted story:

One of the most useful tools i have (especially for home renovations) is one that i made by accident.

I was pulling up glued down lino with a 4" spatula when it snapped in half so it became 1.5" spatula, a few days later i couldn't find any Stanley knife blades to scrape back the paint on the windows so i sharpened the broken spatula on the grinder then finished it off on the oil stone. Effectively creating a razor sharp blade on a large wooden handle, sort of like a chisel.

Anyway not having a name for it, and having to say "pass me the broken spatula chisel thing" it got nicknamed by my eldest son the "GrumpyBastard Tool" because its a lethal weapon that a Grumpbastard might just use.

So it was called the "GrumpyBastard Tool" and since i was the one who used the tool i became the "GrumpyBastard" by default.

And funny enough i have yet to encounter anyone else who calls themself GB online, so it makes life easy for me with just one username

I worked with Mervyn Lloyd (owner of several RRs), a brilliant film editor up to the mid '90s, (retired) always referred to me as quiggers, which is better than quiggles, which i used to get from some.

Mervyn, I believe is down Queanbeyan way, anyone met him? (You wouldn't forget him if you have)...

    From being a dumbass

Scallops originated from my lack of fluency in NSW speak - I had moved from Adelaide to Armidale (now in Brisbane and lovin' it) and went down to Coffs for a seafood feed. When I saw Scallops for 30c each - I thought "bingo". Ordered 10 bucks worth of the buggers.

The fisho thought I was mad when I lost it at being given a armful of potato cakes wrapped in newspaper! My dear friends won't let me forget it - so its Scallops from now on.
