NZ has paused its travel bubble with Sydney.

I was just scrolling through the exposure sites, which are getting long, and there are new sites tonight in Sydney and Qld.

Guess I’m waiting for a month. Brother and my Partner both have had their first shots of AZ - I would be happy to have it if it were an option.
AZ is still not approved by the US FDA apparently. The whole tale of Operation Warp Speed is here:

Lots of interesting reading right there.

as quick as you can Gents. Hate to be pessimistic - realistic is not a happy place in NSW

"While face masks have been made mandatory in several settings in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, and the Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas, other social-distancing restrictions like the number of people allowed in hospitality venues, remain unchanged. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she was confident with the state of restrictions in NSW, even though the highly-contagious Delta strain of COVID-19 was spreading in Sydney's east.
"There is no doubt an increased level of concern, given additional numbers of cases," Ms Berejiklian said."

Hop NSW gets on top of it ASAP. the doubling yesterday was not a great sign nor the export to NZ and a plane load of Aussies know in mass isolation there skipping all there holiday plans

IF the delta variant is as infectious as suggested walking past some one just got a whole lot more problematic!

Add Brisbane "Authorities are scrambling to determine how a flight attendant contracted COVID-19 from a person staying on a different floor of hotel quarantine in Brisbane."

I booked some CHEAP air tickets to QLD in a few months- any one want to take a bet I just wasted the money by not buying flexible fares?

Someone traveled from Sydney to Wellington June 19 returning to Sydney June 21 and tested positive back in Sydney. Onset of symptoms and the score called "CT" (whatever that is) indicates they traveled while infectious. They visited an art exhibition while in Wellington and did a bar and stayed at a big hotel etc. Six locations of interest have been IDed. The assumption is that it is the Delta variant and genome testing is underway in Sydney to see if linked to the current outbreak.

The list of locations of interest includes the flight to and from NZ. Apparently anyone who flew in on his flight from Sydney on June 19 and the return flight from Wellington on June 21 is considered a close contact, so, potentially more infectious people wandering about in NZ and Australia from the Sydney guy deciding to spend a weekend in Wellington.

Damn! Our govt response to the Sydney outbreak was "wait and see", "Daily assessments", "In contact with Australian authorities" etc etc. When they set up this damned travel bubble we were assured responses would be quick and immediate to keep us safe. In Victoria's latest episode we got lucky. Sydney's latest we got potentially very unlucky. Could've made our own luck and placed a border control from Sydney when the outbreak was early but instead we erred on the side of tourism business and we are all now on alert [muttering multiple expletives quietly...]. Quarantine free travel with Sydney was closed last night. Further information will be given us at a 1pm briefing.

New cases in the last two days except the school kid are close contacts (family) of existing cases.

It'll be a couple of weeks though before we know how far it's spread.

I realise it wouldn't have entered any one else' head so I'll suggest Nocturnal Frolics. How is that for a rough guess?

4000 health workers infected with Cov 19 due to a lack of concentration of cases and a dedicated facility.

There is a lot to be said for dedicated facilities (like quarantine) when dealing with infectious diseases.

Don't you reckon there is an echo in here DL? Nobody seems to be listening.

Looks like the tourist came to see the Surrealist Art Exhibition at Te Papa. It is going to get surreal for them for the next wee while.

Looks like the person had had his first AZ shot. May be a mitigating factor if it slowed down the infectiousness levels. Seems the latest research out of England shows a limited effectiveness of both the AZ and Pfizer shot against the Delta variant though.

Multiple additions to the locations of interest list. Tourist did tourist things like eat out etc. Additions are all eateries.
