Shooting people IS an extreme measure But hefty fines and imprisonment are now on the table so these arseholes that ignore the 14 day self isolation mandated Need to be policed and prosecuted ASAP

under which law? is that state or federal?
courts wont be able to prosecute for 12 months,so the gesture is meaning less right now... isolate or you'll get a fine in 12 months time....
do you think they can police or prosecute everyone?
its empty threats from the govt.

But is it? Under what legislation? Something very recently written and passed and of which we've not heard nor seen anything - or something from WW2?

The law of being a decent compassionate human being who doesn't want to see people end up in ICU and possibly die because they're a selfish ****. Its the legislation of being Australian.

Wonder how many people out there may actually have good ideas with big ramifications but find there is really no way to have those ideas properly evaluated. Yes, write to a minister but the minister is too busy. Write to influential medical experts, but it doesn't fit mainstream thoughts. My wife is tired of listening to me...

I do think the Tax Office should have been asked to put money into peoples accounts. Start with Pay As You Earn. Whether the money should cover say 80% of their last stated annual income meted out as a fortnightly payments; or enough money to cover average rent/mortgage, food, medical and to work transport costs; the purpose is provide relative security, have currency circulating, and take the pay load off struggling business owners and landlords. Rather than have long, not socially distanced, queues outside CES, asking for ID. The current overall approach resembles in part trickle down economics which, by accounts, does not work well.

Could you use one test kit to test for example ten people. Take the ten samples, mix them, place a drop into the kit. If you have 100 people to test then you may only need 30 kits if two groups of ten return a positive. Ten groups ten kits. two groups return positive, use 20 kits to determine the individuals in those two groups?

Time for an Australian Science Party at the next elections?

Actually while I'm at it. Anyone else have this problem? Wonder how this might also be affecting people registering and dealing with CES or other government agencies? I lodge my ATO Business Activity Statement on line using some security process thing called ...(fill in name which I've forgotten). Now I have to change to a new system by end of march, to access all government services including ATO. The new system requires I throw away my perfectly good old phone because it cannot be updated to the minimum of Anndroid 5. Complained to ATO who created a complaints action - got two more calls from ATO to confirm the complaint to be passed on to a federal organiser - heard nothing since. Funny thing is no spokesperson will say I have to buy a new phone, they understand the issue of e-waste, they understand if I go back to manual lodgements it will cost them more than me in postage and processing.

Shops here have started to refuse to take cash only accepting card payment. Basis is that too many people has handled cash and it might transfer Corona. Not seen any scientific rational behind it or government advise to do so.

Pointed out that while they were not touching cash everyone was pushing the buttons on the card reader which they were handling over for each transaction and I had not seen any cleaning of it between users.

Guess you could survive on tap and go but expect surge in card fraud. Australian mint could issue currency notes that provide both value and hand sanitising...guess the Ozzie dollar will never be popular enough to be covered in cocaine...

Eevo is prepared as a public service to collect corona contaminated money if you leave it in your mail box and let him know (see posts somewhere back in the mists of time) but not sure if he would go all the way to the UK...not that he can now, even if he wanted to...although he is now holding a view that nothing can stop him doing anything...love his posts.

That's how they do/did the mandatory HIV tests in the UAE. All the blood goes in a pool. A positive result sees those participants recalled for individual testing.
