You'd think some one in authority would stand up and make that point, wouldn't you. The more I see, the more I think I'm watching a movie of Hans Christian Anderson's," the Emperors new clothes. "

FYI Russia just banned lots of flights into and out of Russia, only to main capital cities in Europe and into one airport into moscow. Luckily they havent closed border to georgia yet so land crossing ok there and still finland ok I believe.

Mass hysteria, This is definitely not our finest hour. At this point it seems Melbourne is the epicentre of this hysteria, but no doubt it will spread.
It will definitely spread, have you ever seen pics of crowded Melbourne trains in which people have to travel to & from work every day,....they cannot possibly isolate themselves....they are packed in like sardines.

It's becoming difficult to remain calm, and carry on. But we must. The market has gone crazy, the ASX has had the largest turnaround on record, and no one really knows why. There's no precedent for this AFAIK. As for the virus, we just have to let it run its course. It's like riding a bull, hang on tight, go with the flow. [ and hope like hell the landing is not too hard] Its the first time in living history a health issue has driven the markets down, not an economic or financial issue. ……….Just read the DOW has soared almost 2000 points. If this keeps up I may have to go to Ashley and Martin.

"Having tumbled to 4873.7 in early trade, hitting the lowest level since early 2016 and extending the losses from a record high hit less than a month ago to more than 30 per cent, the index staged a remarkable recovery into the close, gaining more than 10 per cent in the space of 90 minutes

"It's one of those days where everyone is looking for the smoking gun, but in reality we don't need one," said Chris Weston, head of research at Pepperstone."This reeks of portfolio flow where a fund has stepped up and bravely put some money to work and the market has caught on."

As a businessman said to me thirty years ago, the stock market is worse than horse racing, it's the biggest gamble going and its all fueled by emotion.

I wonder if rural/semi-rural properties will go up in value owing to the isolation factor?

Come to think of it, the way people are carrying on, I may have to lock the gate and keep an eye on our tucker!

Attack of the Swaggies ! What a thought. lines of unkempt , unshaven old men shuffling along, reciting poems from Henry Lawson, with their quart pots and syrup, a lamb under each arm, looking for a billabong...……[ why do I get a mental image of Ian? ] Sorry, skipper.
