The global reality number I was reading from WHO etc was deaths from complications of this virus could reach as high as in the realm of 40Million globally from 7.x billion inhabitants.

If we go 1% of the 2/3rd of Aussie population expected to become infected then ~200,000 will be terminally impacted.

Regardless, we must just do the best we can, flattening the curve helps resources meet cases.

And as we all know, as time goes on - progress is made in treating/halting these outbreaks.

1% is conservative...more likely closer to 2% overall.

Pay-wave. Do not place the card directly on the platen, but space it with a finger. You do not normally require a password with PW.

And when you get the chance, disinfect your Card(s) as well as wash your fingers, which you should be doing as a matter of course after shopping, before touching another thing anyway.

Remove your street shoes outside.

I'm sure there are plenty of yet unrealised actions that will allow the bacteria to multiply that haven't been thought of yet, but reducing & thinking about those will go a long way to help.

'er indoors has always requested the cashier pass her a wipe cloth to decontaminate any press buttons. They don't mind doing that. More so now.

Also wipe the handles of the Trolley before you enter the S/Mkt. Not sure what WW use but it certainly doesn't smell of anything strong so hope it has got cleansing qualities despite that. Think of the number of people that have used Card Readers, Trollies etc. before you.

It is not only C-19 you are protecting yourself from, there are many other things that can knock you for Six.

Cheers, yep, numbers will change from now till the chapter on the 2020-24 covid outbreak in history books/websites are written and we still won't really have a final number, but rather an extent of the magnitude of the event.

I have read of the historical events of my parents and grandparents and their parents etc but till now, I have considered myself fortunate to only count financial calamity as my defining historical events a.k.a 1987, 2006-9 etc and earthquakes of moderate fatal outcome here in NZ... The next six-12 months are going to be the defining characteristic determinant of the next decade at the very least.

Doomadgee has now been basically cut off from the rest of Australia, no change there then.
And the rumour mill is going full blast. The army is coming into town, what for? The Council is going to open a take away pub, not likely. And the Government is going to give everybody thousands??
It will be interesting to see how the town goes now there is no nearby alcohol & once the Gunja runs out.
I reckon 1/2 the population will ignore the restrictions & drive/go to Mt Isa to get their hits.

Isolation is kind of our life anyway so all good.

Hi mate, my way of looking at this is a bit different but I don’t think there’s a right or wrong here, just how each person copes. I’m still working but not sure for how long at the moment and maintaining the correct social norms now regarding distances, etc. My 6 week trip we’ve been planning for nearly 2 years is off and nothing planned now until this passes.

The world will continue no matter what happens here but how it look after is anyone’s guess.

Personally, the outcomes for me are as follows -

- I won’t get the virus (unlikely)
- I will get the virus at some point and be ok (Most likely outcome)
- I will get the virus and die (unlikely)

The common denominator in these is that I have zero control over this in reality. I can help assist like everyone should by trying to slow the spread and ideally if I get it, I’d like it to be after the peak, but who knows.

I’m not scared as such, just being careful. I have food, and the supermarkets are staying open so no need to panic - just stay home as much as possible and let it run it course.

Hope you and everyone else here stays safe and is ok.

Nice try but it fails. Navy Mate now a polli got it from a liberal gent during a meeting. No symptoms. Only test as the other guys Senator Bragg was positive. Keeping a safe distance not just from hot, sweaty, sneezing or coughing is required. Rex is in isolation for another week.

No way to spot a asymptomatic covid 19 person with out a test for covid19.

Went to town today to get a week's groceries. Shops better stocked than last week (I was there when Coles opened and there when Aldi opened later!). I did get some toilet paper though - just happened to be there when Coles brought in a pallet load. Between the two shops managed to get everything on the list except metho, oats, rice, pasta, hand soap, bread mix, hand sanitiser, bleach and paper towels. No problems getting the meat I was after, even got potatoes.

The thing that made the day for me, was on the way home I ran into the next door neighbour just before my gate, and stopped and we talked. He has just been laid off, which brings him back home to the farm. He seemed to think this might be all over in a month or so, but I told him I did not think so, and that it would almost certainly be the biggest thing to happen in any of our lives. Then I corrected "maybe not for me - I was alive during WW2."

His response "You were alive during WW2? You are ancient!"

He went on to tell me to call him if I needed any help with anything.

The ABC has a coronavirus live updates blog, much better than the alarmist channel 7, 9, and 10. There should be an enquiry into media reporting of this crisis, much of it is over the top, and is just promoting panic.
