The moderna you have the second jab about 28 days after the first. So he is looking forward in getting it as the number in Japan are going up, and he teaches at several schools. And most classes have about 30+ kids in it. He hasn't stopped wearing a mask 24/7 since Feb last year, and will still keep wearing it. Pity I can not say that about the Japanese people, Brendon said they do what they like, they don't listen to the Government. He can walk in to a class room and more than 1/2 are not wearing masks, which he walks out until they put there mask on. Goes in to the teachers room and they don't wear masks, until Brendon walk in they put there masks on. Vaccine and masks are the only thing that will help us to get back to some like of life. Heather
Hi Heather - nothing in life is certain. that said I have not one person from about 500 AZ 2nd dose say or mention any issue. To the contrary everyone I know, even those who had reactions to the first dose, have all said the 2nd dose is a walk in the park and no issues at all Ask for a lolly pop is my only tip. I got a bucket of then for my docs and they are not being used

Just finished work and got home. Those pesky Doctors are still at it at my place. Running back now to finish off now which makes me smile - hope they have gone home. I get sweaty running- Its not pretty but I am not self-conscious about that at all

Been waiting 6 weeks to get a Pfizer jab in Melbourne. Tried to get AZ as well but no one will give that to me as I’m under 60. Doc has their supplies of Pfizer booked out until mid August and not taking any bookings and had to book into mass vacs centre - first jab is on Tuesday.

The word ‘Shemozzle’ springs to mind…

Same story here. I’ve been booked in for months

The whole shemozzle including NSW lockdown panic is due to PMs lack of Pfizer supply and lack of income support for affected workers.

Retrospective urgency = panic, not leadership.

There are also stories beginning to circulate about Australia being at the back of the queue / not ordering 2022 booster shots in advance either! (And that USA has already ordered 500million Pfizer booster shots prior to their manufacture)

What happened to 'informed consent' , surely if you are able and willing to sign the paperwork you should get Astra if the clinic has it available?

Nope - because the advice is 60 and over and even though Scomo said we could choose - the cover he said he’d give to Doctors to allow them to do this hasn’t happened (as of last week when I was at the Docs) so have to wait for Pfizer. Practices own insurance won’t cover them so it’s a straight NO.

Mass vacs centres the same - even stood in line one day only to be turned away because they couldn’t give me AZ even when I asked for it.

    As I said - Shemozzle….

Well that is as you say the doctors saying nope to cover their perceived liability and nothing else.

Greg Hunt and others have said quite plainly it has always been available from 18 yr olds upwards from the start, and I recall on the day the 50 and over recommendation came out the health workers waiting in line were only turned away for 24 hours so the informed consent paperwork could be changed to include the ATAGI recommendation and then they could still sign off and get jabbed. And ATAGI recommendations are just that , recommendations not a mandate that you can't have it under 60.

You're right it's a big mess and when GPs' are playing arse covering politics and contributing negatively what does the layman do?

From ATAGI more than 70% protection from hospitalisation and 50% reduction in transmission after a single dose for both vaccines:

Maximal protection requires two doses of vaccine, but even a single dose of either vaccine provides substantial protection (by more than 70%) against hospitalisation. A single dose of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca partially reduces transmission by around half and therefore may also benefit close contacts and the community. It should be noted that there is a delay of 2-3 weeks after receiving a first dose of vaccine and being protected from COVID-19.
ATAGI Statement, Response to NSW COVID-19 outbreak 24th July 2021 | Australian Government Department of Health

They also say anyone over 18 can have AZ if Pfizer is not available:

COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca can be used in adults aged under 60 years for whom Comirnaty is not available, the benefits are likely to outweigh the risks for that individual and the person has made an informed decision based on an understanding of the risks and benefits.
ATAGI statement on revised recommendations on the use of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca, 17 June 2021 | Australian Government Department of Health

Mass vax hubs here are only offering Pfizer because they can give it to everyone, but to get AZ you must first consult with your doctor, which can't happen at a vax hub, so Qld is sending AZ to GPs.

I wonder how many of today's selfish fools in anti-lockdown protests will test positive in coming days and end up in hospital.

Yep, if only the "experts" had not poisoned AZ..... We are swimming in a solution to Covid and ATAGI have made it completely unpalatable for the populace who would rather get covid than have an AZ shot. ATAGI doing yet another backflip today completely strips them of credibility but I suspect the horse has bolted.

Having some states lockdown and some states not lock down is like having a peeing section in a public swimming pool!

(Not sure if that should have been posted here or in the Jokes Thread but I thought this thread needed a bit of lightening up.)
