Thought I'd come back to this with some 1st hand experience...

Thanks to a COVID+ person visiting our local IGA on the 21st I became a casual contact and had to get tested yesterday along with the rest of my family. Test was done at about 12:00PM with the results coming through via text at 8:30AM this morning for all 4 of us. So about 20.5 hrs test to result.

It took a week for the site to be identified as a hotspot which, I think comes down to how long it takes for an individual to decide to get tested or they are forced to get a test because of another contact with contact tracing to follow. This is where the real issue lies with this strain. In that time it will easily have passed onto others.

The bulk of our community headed off for the test yesterday and so far I haven't heard of any issues but we'll have to wait and see...We'll need another test in 5 days.

Disappointingly, some (nice) people I know in our town are anti the vaccine and go so far as to say the virus is a hoax. I have heard rumours that they attended the rally last Saturday but I'm yet to confirm that for myself. I'm battling with myself on how to deal with it. Like I said, nice people but misguided.
    Cheers,

    Sean

46 year old from Sydney here

I have a 15 year old son that lives less than 100M away from me but due to wifey and me having issues I have moved out. I haven't been able to see him in five weeks now, the only time I leave home is to do the weekly woolies shop and I wear a mask at all times. I am going quietly insane staring at the same walls day in day out but doing my part. Not all Sydney is selfish and uncaring.

Numbers going Down is great to see. Just completed my booking sheets for Pfizer. gives the Lucky ones the date and time of the 2nd booking. Not that much change to my first version so only took a few hours.

Sent an apology and a copy to an accreditation crew. I had asked to defer my business re-accreditation for a year and was told NO. Oddly I wonder if the NSW impacts my stop them now? I shouldn't laugh at that yet it seem evily funny to my sick sense of humour.

Come ON NSW- barracking for you. I will even subject myself to a Tooheys or a James Squire more likely for support on Sunday

Ian may spank me twice now? Tooheys Poo-ies ? State biased bias is love or jealously really

239 community cases in NSW today. Two more deaths.
Dr Norman Swan says experts tell him the current patchwork restrictions are insufficient to cause the cases to trend down and the whole city, not just 8 LGAs, must be locked down.
    Tough times for Sydney people.

    Hang in there Spie,
I, and I hope the rest of the country, appreciate the people in Sydney who are doing the right thing.
As well as all the people who have done the right in all the lockdowns across the country.
In Victoria's lockdowns there has been provision for shared parenting, is there nothing for you in NSW?

Maybe under the new "Single Bubble" rule you could arrange for your son to visit you:

This allows single people to establish a Covid-safe arrangement with another person, essentially allowing those two people to be considered a single household without them having to live under the same roof. This isn’t an indiscriminate pass for single people to visit any household they want, but rather a way to safely allow social contact between two people while mitigating the risk of community transmissio

The shared parenting thing isn't an issue, Wife and i are amicably separated it is just that legally I can't visit another household and he can't come to mine even in the same family unit [and yes, this is what caused a lot of the south western Sydney spread so i understand and agree]

A week or so is one thing but pushing five now with no light at the end of it makes me miss him all that more

    @SBD4 thank you

I'm planning to just happen to be going for a walk at the same time that he randomly also is in the near future. That should be enough to help

James, not liking XXXX is highly political. Liking XXXX is absolutely apolitical.
It's not me you should fear, I only ban non-XXXX supporters. Pedro dons a little black cap, before passing sentence.
