As Gordie has said, no one is transiting through here as our borders are only open to, (1) New Zealander's coming home, or (2) a very select few for essential work and traveling on an exemption. No transiting happening. They are coming here because this is their home or they are coming here because this is where they are needed for work and therefore allowed to come here for that work. Both these options still require a two-week quarantine once they arrive regardless. No exemptions from that.
NSW Health have tabled in their last report
Total covid cases = 4091
4 wks Local Transmissions (13/9 to 10/10) = 34

That is interesting info - cheers.
I could not see in that report what the current number of the 4,091 cases are still active. Johns Hopkins quote over 3,000 have recovered but 1,138 are still active in NSW versus NZ where all but 40 have now recovered. Whatever the true numbers are - NSW has more cases than NZ and people in NSW are free to come to Victoria.
The point being either way, the risk to Victoria is not people arriving from NZ and as such the arrivals should not be singled out just because they came from NZ. Andrews is over stepping his responsibility and some of the media has jumped on this as if the arrivals from NZ did something wrong.
Kia Ora to those who have managed to get back to Australia.
I think considering NSW has had 35 cases in the last 4 weeks and recovery time is 2 -6 weeks, and that when I was at North Shore recently there was nobody in the Covid ward, I suspect that something isnt right with the stats that Johns Hopkins and others are using. Well, it doesn't seem to make sense at least. Mind you, thats what has been published I suppose.

I agree Slunnie - I doubt the data is correct, but I am sure NZ has even less active cases in the community than NSW.
Either way, Victoria is not under threat from anyone coming from any other state or NZ and the state government should show some common sense.
Interesting quote from Josh Frydenberg today - Victoria has 26% of the population but 40% of the effective unemployment. The price being paid now is too high with something like 500,000 now effectively unemployed here.
With only around 200 active cases in Victoria you would think it is time for everyone to realise we can manage this without being under house arrest. Let’s give people some freedom and let’s give businesses a chance to survive.
