I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    Here's some good customer service.
I had a booking on the Moreton ferry, Micat, for this Sunday, the 8th. After the government lockdown extension, I was thinking that I should get in contact with the barge, to suss the situation.
Before I could do that, I received a notification at 1021, advising of a cancellation and full price voucher, for when it's safe to travel.
    Pretty good, I reckon!

I seem to recall that bottle shops have been able to remain open during earlier lockdowns, so your wine delivery should also be regarded as essential.

As it happens, I have a dozen shiraz on the way right now.

Missed it but saw ABC report that most of them are kids under 10! We all know that our kids when sick want lots of TLC so I suspect lots of mum and dads are going to add to the QLD talley over the next week.

Come in Spinner? Warrny has it in the UK "Australian cricket commentator, coach and former player Shane Warne has tested positive for COVID-19.The 51-year-old is coaching the Lord's-based Southern Brave in England's new limited overs competition The Hundred.
A statement from the club revealed he returned the test after feeling unwell and will now isolating along with another member of the coaching staff."
Its unclear if Mr Warne has had a vaccine or not. For his sake I hope so.

    Extended till 4pm Sunday.

Peter Dutton in isolation because his son attends one of the Brisbane schools.

The cancellation of the Ekka for the second year running is a real blow.

Re migrants, I doubt if language skills is the main issue.
Hazzard on Insiders said something along the lines that he recognised some migrants come from countries where the government is the enemy and can't be trusted so some people are reluctant to seek help.
I would add that some migrants also are not used to a free public health system such as Medicare and assume going to the doctor or hospital will cost them money, so they stay home and hope to get better. Sadly, two have died at home among the 15 Sydney deaths in this outbreak.
I think one of the reasons it was a mistake to focus on 8 Sydney LGAs was it stigmatised people in those areas. People move around, and there are positive cases outside the 8 LGAs, so better to make it citywide as in Melbourne or regional as in SEQ.

Who is in-charge of this? We can fit this person in for a Pfizer vaccine this week yet I am not allowed to. If you happen to know no one please ask them to change this now- today -this minute- the no one is clearly the person making sensible decisions months ago.
Yes and as you would know, the same applies/applied to health care and nursing home workers - had to organise their own vaccinations instead of it being a work process. I dont know about many organisations but in my uncle's nursing home, residents were vaccinated very early in the process by sailors from HMAS Albatross but staff on duty at the same time were not and had to organise their own. Now at this nursing home there is at least one registered nurse on duty for each shift so why (with appropriate training/clearance) could they not have vaccinated their staff at the end of each shift so that over a full shift cycle all workers were vaccinated and then as required for new appointments - too easy.

They still are not sure of the missing link. Until they determine that, it could be anywhere. The Deputy Premier said today that during the last lockdowns, people from other gov. depts across the board were trained to assist in contact tracing. Every one of them has been called in to assist in this outbreak, which might give us an edge , . The treasurer said Qld has taken out loans and gone into defecit to provide support for businesses, and along with Federal support, it might save businesses if we have to go longer . We may get through this by the skin of our teeth, if every one does the right thing.
