What’s hurting? Investment returns? I know my old boy is down quite a bit at the moment on his Super and shares.

    Corona Virus

75 is young mate. Don’t give up. And don’t stress too much about this virus.

Influenzas, Colds, Strokes, Heart Attacks, Car Accidents and Suicides claim more lives than this SC2 will do here by a big margin.

I’m on the COVID-19 control lead team here and whilst we are taking it very seriously, those with it generally just need some rest. Several don’t even know they had it. One contractor has had it twice now.

In that context, you have mild chance of contracting it, and even less chance that it does significant or terminal damage.

    By comparison:

140,000 people died from measles in 2019

Influenza - a highly infectious disease that usually strikes during the winter season. Globally, it causes an estimated one billion cases of influenza, resulting in 290,000 to 650,000 deaths per year. A person can get the virus simply by being near an infected person that coughs, sneezes or talks, or by touching something with the virus on it.

    Tuberculosis killed 1.3 million

Be safe, play it smart. You’ll be around to be old and Grumpy like 4BEE Corona Virus

Thanks for this post, Pickles. Believe it or not, it has soothed my mind somewhat, as, to be quite frank, I considered some of your posts earlier on in the piece, bordering on irrational.

I don't think we're all in that much deep doodoos if we do the right thing. I'm thinking that I'd rather be where I am in isolation in 2020 than sitting in a shelter somewhere in London in 1940-41.

    Hell yes!

No bombs, gas, AO, Napalm or radiation floating around to cause worry.

Even for the higher risk groups - this little nuisance doesn’t succeed too often (comparatively)- when good medical treatment is available.

So, do you have any ideas as to how we, as "Hard Saved Resources Reducing As We Speak", could also receive some "support"?
    Pickles.
I dont have an answer for that - in reality as long as tenants continue to pay I will be fine and believe if I dont need assistance I shouldn't get it but then I am not running business or have lost my job.

Likewise I do not begrudge someone in genuine need getting help but what really annoys me are those getting help when they have never taken any actions in their life to manage the risks of life or to plan for their futures.

The reality is because my income after tax is just a little more than the pension, but I dont get any of the benefits - co concessions at the doctors, no concessions for medicines - pay the full amount for scripts ($150 a month) - nothing. Though I did get a win yesterday when I got an ultrasound done - no concessions so full price but they asked if I had a Seniors Card - $70 off, the only time I have got anything meaningful on it.

So I dont believe that people who can afford things they should get freebies from the Govt, likewise I dont object to those in real need getting help, but I really do object to those who bludge and dont plan for their own futures get handouts.

Not sure how your financial set up but I’d find a better accountant Corona Virus

Both my (now divorced) parents are self funded retirees. Incomes from their investments are quite good (they retired multi-millionaires) and they have it set up that they get the discounted prescriptions etc. they just don’t get the $$$.

May pay to look into if you can modify your set up.

A couple of things I want to get off my chest with this bloody virus.

    1. Supermarkets now have limits on certain items, right? So, enforce the limits!!!. Was going through checkout at Coles yesterday and the woman in front obviously had too many bags of frozen veg and too many cream, which the operator put asided. At the completion of the transaction the operator just flipped the extras through in another transaction and away the woman went. NO! Limits are imposed because people are A holes! Enforce the limits! There is security wandering the aisles to make sure everyone is 1.5m apart ffs, put them near the tills so the A holes don't go balistic at the operators when told they have too much.

    2. I am in the fortunate position, or unfortunate depends which way you look at it, to still be getting some work. But probably not for too much longer. I work at BCF. STOP COMING IN TO BROWES!!!!! GO HOME!!!! I worked yesterday and the number of people when asked if I could help them said "no, just having a browse" is ridiculous. I'm disinfecting handrails and fridges and cabinets and baskets and trolleys and eskys etc so the great unwashed can have a browse?!?!!! GO HOME!!!! One bloke said "the wife is over in Woolies will probably be an hour so thought I'd come for a browse". I said "well you won't be here for an hour we close in 20 mins", and left him to his "browsing".
There is no eraser on the pencil of life.

Now - Not a Land Rover (2018 Dmax)
    Was - 2008 D3 SE 4.0l V6
    Was - 2000 D2 TD5 with much fruit.

I went to Bunnings tonight (Bayswater WA). I went in with a list, a plan and gloves. I was in and out in under 10 minutes (5 of that was at the damn checkout waiting for part numbers for 3/8" galv washers). On the way out I asked the exit girl "are people behaving themselves?". I got "No, people are being rude, arrogant, not observing the rules and generally being unpleasant".

What the actual **** is wrong with people? Yesterday morning my kid couldn't see any of his teachers/physios because someone had stolen a crapload of masks from his ward, and we needed to wait for more to be delivered. Again, WTF?!?.

The world has gone stark raving bloody mad. On the other hand, this has shone a big spotlight on those that are actual arseholes (and they are not as rare as I'd hoped).

Be good to each other and a big **** you to the selfish ******.
