But.... this app doesn’t track location - it’s BT only and tracks interactions with other “numbers” it doesn’t know I interacted at a shop or a street cafe, just that I did get nearby to another device. If that device triggers as being a Covid carrier then all devices it interacted with are then contacted to please come forward.

If its 40% of the population that's around 10 million so they are well short of that.
Every time you go to the doctor and are bulk billed or claim a Medicare rebate, you sign over your privacy (but no one reads the tiny print at the bottom of the Medicare forms, do they?).
Every year many of us submit a Tax Return. That’s more information we hand over. If you do your tax online, lots of the spaces auto-fill with information the ATO already has about you.
Centrelink has lots of information that recipients volunteer to them.
Your Woolies Rewards Card, and your bank credit card know what you buy, and where you spend.
Privacy.....no longer exists.
