    Pickles.
Sad to see the epi person being hung out to dry..where are the Doctors who take the big bucks but often dodge any responsibility? In my old workplace the epi was a junior position simply providing advice to the managers and the Director Drs...she certainly should not be taking the rap for the Ruby debacle.

But I saw the same happen in Tas Health where the Drs and senior Managers hung out a scientist to dry over a shellfish monitoring stuff up. Totally shameless they were in protecting themselves😞

Even the PM has expressed concern..so it must be bad if he cares!

IF this happens then what is the Governments alternative to "Enforce" these pandemic provisions that ARE working and ARE protecting the general population, Martial Law??

It Saddens me that despite the vast majority of Australians supporting these restrictions despite the inconveniences/hardships that they are causing there is a Minority that cannot get past their own selfishness that are trying to subvert the various laws that have been put in place to protect us ALL.

I say to all of those that are whining and moaning about these restrictions to put some cement in their coffee/tea and harden the **** up and to think about others for a change instead of being so bloody selfish and thoughtless.

I don't know of anyone here who is complaining* - it was an academic in NZ who was suggesting that NZ's lockdown breached NZ's laws.

*Well, other than the tiny number of right wing clowns who've been inspired by the US protests.

The Economist used to regularly criticise Australia for having three levels of Government. Too inefficient they said. What the current crisis has shown is that having one central government - like the UK has - is literally deadly if that Government drops the ball.

Similarly, a Federal model - like the USA and Australia - can be a recipe for disaster if those two levels of Government don't work together.

We've been fortunate in Australia in that the "National Cabinet" innovation has provided both central direction and local flexibility - it's been an incredible success.

Lots for us to be proud of.

The longer Powers that Be delay any 'Inquiry', the more time the guilty parties have to pad their trousers...and I'll guess that the result...will be a wishy-washy apology with multiple vague targets. NO-One will be demoted or lose their job.

    - Should have been done - as soon as the story broke - by one person or maybe a 2-person team, with unlimited powers to demand answers from ANYONE. And authority to dismiss...

That way, the villains will be caught on the hop before the dust settles.

I'm told that the first 24 ~ 48 hours in a serious crime investigation is when much 'gold' is discovered.

    Trump's Drugs seized by Customs

Anyone notice a story the last day or two? - about Australian Customs (Border force?) intercepting huge amounts of on-line purchases of hydrochloroquinone / HCQ / Plaquenil, - generics.
Seems like the sheople-public is doing dunny-roll hoarding on an old, off-patent but effective medication. Which is also deadly if misused and by susceptible people.
Actually, they've missed the boat, as medical folk here panic-bought nearly all the available - back in March.

    Yep.

Who in their right mind would take med advice from you know who?
Funily enough it came out that Mr Orange also had quite a shareholding in a certain drug company that made HCQ.
    Surprise surprise.

The less charitable among us would've suggested to let the stuff go through, Darwin at work, etc.but they could potentially administer it to dependents.

Snopes: Does Trump Benefit Financially by Promoting Hydroxychloroquine as COVID-19 Treatment?

U.S. President Donald Trump earns some income from three family trusts that are administered independently by J.P. Morgan, an investment bank and wealth-management firm. These trusts are in part invested in mutual funds that themselves are partially invested in companies that produce hydroxychloroquine. Trump’s financial stake in these companies is virtually negligible — contained indirectly via mutual funds — and administered through three family trusts he does not control. As a generic drug, hydroxychloroquine is unlikely to provide any one company with significant profits compared to other proprietary drugs.

What it’s shown is that you can effect major change in the world by ordinary people making decisions which bring them to fall just on the right side of questions from time to time.”
