    I went to a Bunnings the other day - only the second time in about 8 months, so it felt like a holiday - and in the entire Bunnings there was only one person not wearing a mask. And the staff went to locate him and give him a mask.

    But what I see on the TV in other States looks like zero social distancing and zero prophylactics - that's OK if there's no virus circulating, but if there is you have an unrestricted spread.

    As an example, those crowds at Sydney airport had no social distancing and few were wearing masks - but they were there because they were fleeing a virus outbreak!

    Vic will close borders to NSW tomorrow I think.

    The real danger to Aus now is int'l arrivals, which is why I think air crews should be among the 1st to get the vaccination, and maybe even start a no jab, no fly into Aus policy for crews.
    It isn’t known yet if the vaccination stops you from being a carrier or being able to spread it, just stops you getting sick from it is all that’s known by the sounds of it, so until we know, quarantine is the only way we should be going.

    FYI, as Melbourne discovered, you can't lock down suburbs.

    To stop this they have to lock down Sydney.

    WA is shocking. No masks, no distancing. We went to the Children’s hospital on Monday and even the sanitiser dispensers were empty. If it hits here it is going to tear through like a fire in a red heads factory. I wear a mask and get looked at like I’m an alien. Went to a meeting on Thursday and got a nasty harumph because I wouldn’t shake hands.

    Our problem here is the masks we wear are only effective if everyone is wearing them and nobody else is. We can’t get the N95s.

    I recently spent a couple of weeks in and around Perth. The only folk i saw observing any sort of anti-covid protocols were other interstate visitors. That included a visit to a doctor's surgery.

    Another new variant of the virus found in South Africa. It appears the experts were right, this could be with us for some time, even with a vaccine. Time we all started taking the precautions seriously. THE New York Times;

    In South Africa, scientists and health officials announced on Friday the discovery of a new lineage of the coronavirus that has quickly come to dominate samples of virus tested in the country. The variant, named 501.V2, has also been associated in a preliminary analysis with faster spread and a higher load of virus found in swabs. Scientists are examining it closely because the variant includes several changes in the part of the virus that allows it to attach to human cells, which is a key target for antibody therapies and vaccines.

    Life in WA is pretty much back to normal simply because the borders were locked and COV19 has been eliminated in the State because of this.
    With NO community transmissions whatsoever and a well regimented quarantine system in place that has worked and is keeping the population safe people don't Have to wear masks here or treat everyone like a plague carrier, Welcome home Mate

    And Qld.

    Its the remoteness that helps WA,as well.

    The Eastern states rely a lot on people travelling, between the states.
