Ms Berejiklian has confirmed the original source of the Northern Beaches cluster came from overseas.
"We know the original source is an international source. It's an international strain," she said.

    New State Covid rules.

    • Queensland: Anyone who has been to the Northern Beaches region on or since Friday December 11, and arrives in the state after 1am Saturday, must go into hotel quarantine for 14 days at their own expense
    • Western Australia: NSW has moved from a “very low-risk” state classification to a “low-risk state”, meaning anyone arriving from the state to WA will be required to self-quarantine in a suitable location for 14 days. Arrivals will also be required to be tested for COVID-19 on day 11 of their quarantine
    • Victoria: Anyone who has been in the Northern Beaches area since December 11 should get tested today and stay at home until results are available — they should also avoid aged care facilities and hospitals
    • Tasmania: The Northern Beaches LGA is considered a hotspot, meaning anyone who has been in this area on or since Friday, December 11 will not be permitted to enter Tasmania
    • Northern Territory: Also declared LGA a hotspot effective today, adding that anyone travelling to the NT from the Northern Beaches will have to undertake 14 days quarantine either in Alice Springs or Darwin
    • The ACT: Advised all Canberrans not to travel to the Northern Beaches, and anyone who has been in the area from Friday, December 11 needs to immediately self-quarantine and get tested.

Insanity, crazy nuts? We go though a huge amount of inconvenience to rid Australia of Covid 19 and air crew allowed to move around International airline crews are exempt from NSW's coronavirus hotel quarantine program — here's why ..

A bit late "Last week, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the states and territories were working on any "vulnerabilities" to ensure airline staff don't pose an outbreak risk."We need to tighten some arrangements particularly around aircrew as well as on diplomats," he said."

Our VIC hotel stuff up was stupid. NSW has followed with even more stupidity sadly. Hope you beat it quick all.

With this virus, it has a capacity to have us always paying catch up. What we must ask is, who is at the fore front in the fight. The Health professionals, the Politicians, or big business.? For our sake, we must hope it is the Health professionals.

It's looking like every state has had the same policy, Vic is now following NSW and making aircrew quarantine in designated hotels.

You would expect, after all that has happened, that a fool proof plan would have been formulated with all the health professionals and State Premiers at one of those ' Cabinet meetings'. It is fair to ask, why hasn't it ?

It's a blanket policy under the guidelines from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee. [ AHPPC]

An Australian epidemiologist has called on airline crews to be treated the same way as international passengers when it comes to quarantining for 14 days, fearing they are exposing the country to unnecessary cases of COVID-19.Currently, Australia’s policy for cabin crew flying into the country is that they are exempt from mandatory quarantine and can instead isolate at home or other accommodation under the current guidelines from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC).

This isolation period lasts for 14 days or until their next international departure – whichever is shorter, however, this quarantine does not have to be in a hotel.
If they live alone they can stay at home, or if they live in a share house and have a separate sleeping area and bathroom they are also able to isolate at home.

Speaking to the ABC, Burnet Institute epidemiologist Mike Toole said the risk of allowing airline staff into the country withoutneeding to quarantine in the same way international passengers do was a “risk” and “doesn’t make sense”.
“Many of them are coming from countries that have very high rates of (COVID-19) infection,” he said. “They should be subject to the same conditions as arriving passengers – so either the police or the ADF actually supervise the transport to a hotel, and then the police supervise the whole experience in the hotel.”

    Another " loophole".

Mr Toole said that the transportation of staff on buses – some without masks – poses an additional threat.
“I’m not saying they should quarantine for 14 days, that’s not practical,” he said.
“But when it’s time to go on their next flight, I think they should be transported to the airport using the same precautions as arriving passengers are currently (subjected to when) transported from the airport.
“It is a potential loophole in the system, and we can’t afford that.”
