Finally the WA border eases up on Victorians, 18 hours after we're supposed to arrive back. Bastards!
In the UK, people may need proof of vaccination against COVID to be allowed to enter pubs , cinemas and major sporting venues. Not a bad idea really.
Pubs and cinemas may turn away people not Covid-vaccinated, says minister (msn.com)
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Super ModeratorWe’ve been trying. Seats went from $300 to $1500. Direct flights are booked until after the 14th. We are trying to go either via Brisbane or drive to Canberra and fly from there. Just haggling with the agents and the WA health department who are responsible for trying to get us home. Arguing our way up the chain trying to get some help and urgency out of a government department is a challenge.
Short sighted of me not to acknowledge that, of course you would be doing everything to you could to make it happen.
Incredible that given the very reason for your journey to VIC necessitated absolute care to protect your young one from any kind of infection and the fact that by the 11th VIC will have been COVID free for six weeks(assuming that's the way it stays), you'd reckon they'd cut you a break on the 18hrs.
Best of luck getting someone to see some sense. I hope they see the light.
Cheers,
Sean

Super ModeratorOh there's no chance of that at all. We've been bluntly informed there are no exceptions under any circumstances (except politicians, health department employees and unspecified others on the gravy train). It's more about getting us a viable route home in the most expedient manner after midnight Monday night. I'm more comfortable with Canberra than Brisbane as we avoid a flight and airport from Canberra. At least with the drive we're all still isolated in the car.
Worst case (and frankly given where we've been and what we've been through this is a pretty good worst case to hold) we fly out on Monday on a direct flight to Perth and get locked in the house for 14 days. Yes, it means yet another COVID swab for the kids and having to rely on others for supply, not to mention having to do the Christmas shopping on-line. Like I said, not a bad worst case, but I'm very hopeful we can do better.
I did ask what might happen if we flew in and arrived at 10am Monday as scheduled and then just wandered the airport terminal until after midnight. It would appear civil servants don't have a sense of humour.
