This guy was just another one of those.
It may not be a chargeable offence to Lie in SA (bull**** yes) but I bet some Trader may make a Civil Action out of it having lost perishable goods etc etc, for instance, & Sue him.  Now, whether he has sufficient collateral & funds behind him will of course will be another point in that decision but it seems unlikely from his circumstances.
Who can say with certainty at this stage?    For me & mine it was a good move & better safe than sorry.
