Travelling to Victoria from New Zealand

A trans-Tasmin travel bubble is currently in place between New Zealand and parts of Australia. This allows travellers from New Zealand to arrive in New South Wales and the Northern Territory without having to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

Currently the Victorian borders are open. If you are travelling from New Zealand and have passed all relevant immigration and biosecurity requirements as established by the Federal Government, New South Wales Government and Northern Territory Government, then you are able to travel to Victoria. You do not need to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Victoria.

Perhaps no one told the Premier......

Where's the "Tasmin"? Were they spelling "Tasman" with a Kiwi accent?

Edit: even funnier, if you search on DHHS' website for "Tasman" it doesn't come up, but "Tasmin" does.

That MAY be the case in VIC But it is Very different kettle of fish in WA and yet a bunch of these "tourists" that most of which only paid for a one way ticket ended up in the West.
These are now in hotel quarantine at their own expense, I am thinking that this travel "Bubble" wasn't thought through properly or it is simply a political stunt by Morrison

And that is appropriate - the understanding would be once in Australia they are subject to the same rules that apply to anyone else within Australia.

At least WA is being consistent with how they treat anyone not in WA.

When you think about it - Daniel Andrews could of had a good day today. There was general uplift in mood with the lifting of restrictions and a clear indication of when we can hope to see businesses open up again.

Instead he had to have a whinge again over the Federal Government over something it appears his department approved and clearly the Vic department of health had agreed to, and in doing so just highlight the incompetence and miscommunication within the team he leads.

Today was a chance to welcome back people, see the joy in the eyes of families being reunited, and celebrate the turn around in Victoria. Not cast fear over people returning legitimately from NZ.

Hope no one is waiting on a new Defender. This from an article about the resurgence in Europe.

The Czech Republic is suffering Europe’s worst infection rate. It’s now shifted education to online learning and is activating plans to mobilise thousands of medical students. Hospitals have already been cutting medical procedures to free up beds.

The death toll in the Czech Republic reached 1158 on Wednesday, with more than half – 731 – since September. “Sometimes we are at the edge of crying,” the head nurse at Slany hospital near Prague, Lenka Krejcova, said.

Part of the problem, European medical experts say, is that many of Eastern Europe’s trained nurses and medical staff have long since emigrated to fill demand in wealthier countries.
Might want to have any new imported European car fumigated before you take delivery.

They would have to apply for a border pass to enter Qld. That asks if you have been in a hotspot. Sydney and Victoria are hotspots. Have to give a mobile number which is then tracked. Off to hotel quarantine for 14 days.

Tasmin will be pleased to know the Victoria DHSS has updated their website to now refer to the trans-Tasman travel bubble. Corona Virus

The rules for those arriving from NZ via NSW or NT has not changed.
