What a fun news day it was today.
Started with the usual Federal Government sledge of the Victorian Premier just in time to wind up a clearly agitated Andrews before his daily “The COVID State” briefing.
First he conceded that Victoria will allow returning people from NZ to enter the state from NSW with no need for Quarantine. But then he pushed not only the DHHS under the bus (again) but also his own department making it clear to all that only he has the authority to allow people to enter Victoria, before then trying the deflect the issue and bring WA, SA, and Tasmania into the debate.
The NSW government stated they understood Victoria had agreed to this arrangement, and later in the day SA and Tasmania also made no big deal over the issue noting that they followed the normal interstate arrival process.
The Australian Border Force Commissioner also confirmed no objection had been raised by the DHHS at a series of meetings to discuss how the process would work. He also noted that once a person departs the international arrivals building at the airport they are no longer considered an international arrival and subject to same rules as all in Australia.
It seems the only ally Daniel Andrews has right now is the Premier of WA, but as we all know Bogans from Rockingham do like to wind Victorians up.....(said the Bogan from Rockingham)
What is particularly fascinating is after Andrews was lodging an objection to this arrangement, that late last night the DHHS website was being updated several times to confirm this is in fact all OK. Nothing to see here - move on.
I think the Victorian Premier needs to take a few days off, relax and enjoy the freedom that he has bestowed on us - perhaps even travel interstate - Perth is particularly nice at this time of year. He could catch up with Mark for a beer at the Swinging Pig in Rocky.![]()

I can really understand why mainstream news services are totally distrusted and ignored by younger people today.
