Agree. NO WAY am I getting cocky, no way in the world.
Through good management, good leadership, & good support by most of the Aussie population, and yes I reckon with a bit of good luck, we are obviously doing better than most.
But it's still out there, we're still getting, "community infections" (from we don't know where), and whilst it appears that we are now better prepared, at this stage it appears that infection "cells" can spring up anywhere, at any time.
So Wifey & I are VERY wary, we are not taking any chances at all.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

The ONLY reason why we have such a Low death toll is because of the lockdown, If Everyone stayed at work and the pubs/restaurants/schools ETC. stayed open that death toll would have been MUCH higher.
Like I said Much better to be unemployed for a short time than dead Forever.

Quoted for emfarsis. I find it incredible how many people don't get this. The other side of the block remains an unknown for us, but of course the grass is always greener there unless it took someone you knew/loved. The other side of the block in the US & UK doesn't look so pretty though.

Politicians have to make unenviable choices. It's what we employ them for, but in general they have more information and advice than we do so we need to trust the choices they make come from a better informed perspective. Can't please all the people all of the time, but in this case they've attempted to keep a majority of people alive.

I'm not suggesting the current situation is the right one as I don't have all the information, but it has certainly been effective in minimising community transmission.

    and still worth it imho

a million out of work for 98 dead is the worst economic decision aust have made in the last 30 years.

Being dead may be quite pleasant. I have been dead due to an accident. There is nothing to report. Then you are revived. And the light comes back on.

Being revived is most unpleasant , all these people you don't know , meaning well, doing things to you , sticking things in you/on you. Being bundled into and out of and on and off x-ray machines , CT scans, MRI scans. Being given disgusting liquids to show up in your bowel, injections in your spine to enhance radiography , someone you dont know holding your cock trying to get you to **** looking for blood in internals. This is the first couple of hours while the morphine is dripping in at a good rate. Then they take you back to ICU , where they wire you up to so much stuff you can't move anyway , and it sounds like you are in a pinball parlour and they lower the drug intake because they want you to hurt so you can tell them where. There are a couple of beautiful angels continuously hovering over you and at some time they allow your wife and young children to visit and I wish I could have taken their photos that day. I cough up blood into a bowel right in front of my son and it's on again. Nurses , doctors all over me and they up the flow on the saline drip because I still haven't ****ed. I succumb to the morphine and when I awake I've been washed, I'm naked lying on a big lambswool rug because I apparently told them I don't like pyjamas. The two beautiful angels are hovering around. I spent the next few days in ICU with a stream of visitors , sometime I ****ed and was congratulated by everyone.I think the whole hospital knew. I spent another week in hospital , which was boring because my angels disappeared. The rest of this goes on for some time as I recovered.
This is the first time I have related this but it just flowed, hope it didn't offend anyone.

So yeah, I really would rather have been unemployed .

It should be pointed out, that if we had just kept on with business as usual, compared to to the current 98 dead and a million out of work, looking at overseas experience, we would probably have thousands dead - and a million out of work.

Once people started to get sick in large numbers, does anyone really expect that most of the businesses that have shut down now would still be open? Do they imagine most people will continue with life as usual? Reports from overseas show only small numbers do in this situation.
