Chongquing has a population of 30.48 million, Beijing is 21.54 million, Shanghai is 24.38 million, Guangzhou is 14.9 million and Shenzhen is 12.9 million - but those are just the official figures and don't take into account the unofficial populations or that a lot of those cities are parts of larger conurbations. So, lots of space for a virus to spread.
And then there was this prediction in the Lancet article:
"As such, given the substantial volume of case importation from Wuhan (figure 3), local epidemics are probably already growing exponentially in multiple major Chinese cities. Given that Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen together accounted for more than 50% of all outbound international air travel in mainland China, other countries would likely be at risk of experiencing 2019-nCoV epidemics during the first half of 2020."
So, yes, there wasn't much point asking people if they'd been to Wuhan .....

Was a bit spartan but quite comfy & obviously of a lower standard than the 5 star gaffs that seem to be used today. When the road & bridge was built for the Power Station it wasn't isolated any more, so the whole joint has been opened up for Tourism in conjunction with the SA Maritime Museum who occasionally do tours, a bit like North Head. I was taken there yonks ago when my MiL (remember those?) imported a dog from the UK. Was picked up from the Birkenhead Bridge & a launch took us down the Port River to the Animal Quarantine station at the same facility. A pleasant days outing actually.
Sydney had North Head as a Quarantine Station or are you thinking of Pinchgut just off the Opera House/Garden Island a tad.? Was an early harbour Fort.
