So the responsibility for poorly managed quarantine does not lie with the Victorian government but the Federal government for using Serco? If that is the case why no guards boffing tourists in NSW, oh thats right, they didnt use bouncers on a sub contract arrangement to supervise quarantine. Seems like a Victorian Government responsibility to me.
Similarly the oft repeated warning from the Premier that he will lock everyone down even harder seems unproductive to me, along with the baying of the media that were all ruined if we dont wear masks (which incidently are all sold out) in contravention of the official policy from the Federal government.
Some of his other points about Australia not having the ability to manufacture anything have some element of truth but that's what you get when you want a free market economy that does not prop up uncompetitive local manufacturers. How would the country react if suddenly all electronic goods went back to having a 40% sales tax on them as "luxury goods"?
The damage being done to the fight to control coronavirus spread is greater from the various profesors that get a gig in the media disagreeing with governments on how to control the virus ranging from locking us all up with no opportunity to work or leave the house for a month to the continued baying for everyone to wear masks instead of using what worked the last time which is a sensible restriction on social interactions along with social distancing and maybe wearing a mask when that isn't possible (if you can buy one). The mask thing is a bit of a circular argument, if everyone is locked up at home who is in public to wear the masks? We are not in the same situation as the US.
There's something anomalous about the Al Tarqua college outbreak, there have been many schools shut down in NSW (and presumably in other states) where everyne was sent home for a day, the school was cleaned , close contacts isolated and the outbreak contained with one or two cases. how did this school get to 147 cases?
