Our govt has finally replaced security guards at quarantine hotels with defence force, about bloody time! The security guard union spokesman just said on the 6pm news(in defence of his members)...'sometimes people working night shift, fall asleep'....jeepers creepers....if I fell asleep on nightshift, someone including me, probably, would end up dead!

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. I'm sure our Premier wishes she could start again with that comment. It was definitely not a good thing to say. Watching the comments reminds me of drowning men clutching at straws, trying to draw attention away from their own failures. If that's all she gets wrong with this virus, I'm ok with that. You miss the point . Catching the virus is not a stuff up, but having to work 3 or 4 jobs to make ends meet is.

That infected guard believed he had to attend all his job commitments sick, or not get paid. The same problem as in Vic., but if you feel you have to put the same spin on it as the NSW Premier, so be it. Paul Murray from Sky News explains it well.

Yes, the Parkville university, medical and research hub is fairly significant - I've had a few friends who were researchers at places like WEHI - but what I was thinking was that given Australia's size I'd guess that not all medical specialisations are covered in each State, so if you had a particular issue you might have to go interstate to be treated.

I got taken to ER at a hospital in Brisbane once and what I noticed was how much quicker I was seen than I would have been in Melbourne - it's just a question of funding levels.

Its both government and huge private investments as well. Melb is a BIOTECH capital except for a nifty one I love NXS in Sydney noting all its research is mostly in the US[biggrin] Perth has a great list history of research. Not dishing the other states.
