What is of concern here is that none of the aged care residents testing positive had any symptoms. How many are out there thinking everything is ok, when it may not be. Out of the aged care residents only one was not vaccinated. There are signs that NSW residents are not taking the lock down seriously. edit, four in intensive care ,none ventilated at this time.Quote:

Just have Morrison hire a cruise ship or 3, fill them up with the prevaccinated returning Aussies who then quarantine in their cabins during the trip home. When they arrive test them and if all good turn them loose..Quote:

No one wants to keep Aussies out. But we need dedicated quarantine facilities before we bring more in. We could have had room for 1,000 at Wellcamp by last February. All around the World the delta variant is creating more cases, and countries who thought they were in the clear are experiencing another wave. Not enough vaccinations World wide, and unfortunately, it seems international travel will not be any where near " normal " until that happens. Who knows what new variants are being created , we already had delta plus in India. How long before a variant comes along that current vaccines can not handle?. Covid became an issue well over 12 months ago. The "poor stranded Aussies" have had that long to return, but now all of a sudden it's Government's fault, that they're protecting the homeland? It would seem from this story Australia COVID: Why the queue to get home to Australia isn’t moving that a significant number are people who have planned to come home at a fixed date and have stayed overseas while practical and made plans to return which have now been thrown into uncertainty with the reduced caps. There is some good news at the bottom, however with the increase in positions available at Howard Springs, although that doesn make it any better if the airlines decide it is not viable to fly here anymore.
There are many overseas jobs that are taken on a fixed term, either dictated by the job itself or visa conditions.

I know an Aussie bloke and his French wife who were booked to come from Japan last year, the bookings were cancelled, their Land Rover was booked on a ship and had to be cancelled, they have spent many thousands on tickets, and they are now in Taiwan and have given up trying to get to Perth.
The recent problem here seems to be mainly caused by a sharp rise from April in the number of non-citizens approved to make short term visits to Australia.
