About 90% reduction was reported a few days ago - from 500 to 36, but it does depend a bit on exactly what period is covered in calculating the excess deaths, although these numbers are probably pretty representative.

It can get worse. Like this report from England & Wales, showing 'Respiratory Deaths' for the first quarter of 2020, compared with an average of previous 5 years, or, 'How many we would expect to lose up to week 13'

Just to be clear, covid19 is classified as a 'Respiratory' (Anything from lung cancer, COPD, flue, pneumonias et al) illness, and is included in the 2020 accounting.

Ooops, maybe that was the wrong graph.... shows that the 'Covid' appears to have SAVED 2,000+ lives.... Hang on, we'll try the Yanks, surely one from them will show how deadly this Dread Disease really is...

or maybe that black line did a 'Keating' and morphed into the J curve (it's from some time ago)

Then there's the unwelcome sudden increase of clinical experience in dealing with difficult and acute pneumonias and respiratory distress, lessons learned the hard way via European (ICU & Ventilation) covid losses.

Are these Instagram graphs or from a reputable source? Like the CDC US etc. Any links to the source data?

    Cheers

But not many in America, Brazil, India.and many others.

Back when this first kicked off I didn't think we would halt it. I saw this killing around 0.5% of Australians this year. And while that clearly didnt happen, the USA has showed us that it could have.

The 'economic destruction' of 1/200 of our population dying is unthinkably bad. Except if you run a crematorium. Or make PPE.

The big economic impacts are our 'exports.' And I put that in quotes because education is normally up there. But if India is locking down, if China slows because no-one is buying, then we don't dig stuff up here nor do we have thousands coming in to Universities.

If the whole world's economy drops by an amount that matches the first year of the Great Depression, then we will cop an economic flogging regardless (and it has). Is China's economy powering along? New Zealand's? Sweden's?

Sepsis just means widespread bacterial infection. This is what happens if your pneumonia, skin cut or tummy bug gets completely out of control. So you can't stop one thing to prevent sepsis, but you can do many. And you can treat it.

Do you have any idea of the regulations to prevent sepsis in Oz and the economic cost of them? From getting your hairdresser to sterilise their scissors (ever notice the cup of fluid the scissors go in?) to checking the milk you are sold is properly pasteurized and refrigerated. Should we just let it rip and help the economy??

Lied to? Sure you've been lied to. But you have the shoes on the wrong feet. The 'one world government' (as I assume your sources call it) is telling the truth, daily and in detail.

There are many more dangerous things in Australia.

Yep like a Series 2A perched precariously on a High Lift Jack.

Big news tread setters. Rang a mate in WA out smelling the daisy. WA has twice as many Covid19 cases today than Vic.

Yes its only that ship and thanks for taking care of the sailors

Nope, not INSTAGRAM etc stuff as I'm NOT on there...! Most likely (the UK one for example) but not restricted to, a link from a 'contributor', or blogger himself. - ( Malcolm Kendrick is the Usual Suspect.)
Not the usual 'tin- Hat' rabble, but more balanced sane and tolerably Intelligent - similar to us here - and a few medical Doctors.

No. Flu has never been widely tested for, mostly only being tested for when admitted to hospital, but since it is a notifiable disease, I very much doubt this has changed in Australia. It might have changed in countries where the health system was overwhelmed by COVID-19.

I recall that it was widely published at the time that when social distance rules were introduced in Denmark at the start of this pandemic, the proportion of flu tests coming back positive dropped within days from a usual 20% of tests to only a few percent, despite the number of tests being largely unchanged.

    We have been sooooo Lucky

Coronavirus death toll hits 1 million. These 10 charts begin to tell the story of loss - ABC News
The biggest pandemic in 100 years has notched up another milestone: a million deaths around the world.
The death toll hit 100,000 in mid April as the virus took hold in Europe, and 500,000 in late June.

We have missed a bullet I think. Those few who bring up we have not killed as many as another illness or two have a very blinkered view of the macro world health. We could have been as stupid as some countries. We are still the Lucky Country in my opinion
