Why? Surely the children and younger, healthier members of the human race deserve to be considered first. They're the future.
By "people in hospital" I'm hoping you mean the hospital staff!

nsw created 1/10th of the jobs that qld created over the last few months
qld is full of nsw / victorians driving endlessly around in circles because they don't want to head back down south till they get themselves sorted like qld
caravan parks on the coast are turning back 20 or 30 unhappy campers a day on average according to the stats
almost every country town i passed through recently, that was interested in accommodating tourists / travelers, was doing very well for themselves, with caravan parks and free camps near those towns nearly always heavily occupied
some towns simply weren't interested and nothing was open and the endless stream of travelers continued on, after they did a walk around and found nothing open.
i sat in the main street of one town eating a burger and chips i obtained from a local pub, but couldn't eat there, and watched 10 or 20 vehicles, most with with vans stop, have a look around and either stop at the bakery and leave empty handed because they had no eftpos or simply walk the street and then move on to the next town by the looks of it.
had me shaking my head wondering what the hell was going on to be frank....
OR you can think like the rest of Australia (except VIC) and Eliminate local infections instead of tracking the daily new infections and return to a relatively normal life/economy[thumbsupbig]
Put it this way IF VICTORIA and NSW could ELIMINATE their local infections there wouldn't be any border restrictions as there are at the moment.
As my father says "And if your Aunty had balls she'd be your uncle". Although I suppose these days she can be whatever she wants to call herself. Personally I identify as a three piece sofa, but that's getting off track.
Anyway, an elimination strategy turns out to be a lot harder than it looks, and it only takes one slip up for it to get loose again. From what I've seen in WA if it gets out all hell will break loose. At least in Vic and NSW they're working towards effective contact tracing and containment (well, NSW is doing it and Vic is working on getting it right).
The fact of the matter is, once borders come down and the mandatory quarantine periods are stopped it *will* get in, and it needs to be dealt with effectively.
Interesting to see the NSW Premier simultaneously refuse to open the NSW border to Victoria while demanding Qld open to NSW. Seems very contradictory when NSW has active cases.

Great news from WA today with the borders set to open from Nov 14 without the need for quarantine except if coming from NSW or VIC.
Being able to self quarantine if coming from NSW or VIC is also a good option for those of us with homes in WA.
