Let the chooks catch their own flies.

Doesn't work like that. I use fly traps to keep them down, otherwise you risk the numbers being over bearing in the heat of summer. Also keeps the neighbours happy. Gives them something less to complain about.

You may be close to the mark, Des. There are more varieties of the leptospermum tree in Australia than NZ, and the variety exists in the swampy land behind our place. Leptospermum ssp. . Beekeepers around here took part in a survey some time back, and were told their honey was of the manuka variety. I didn't bother, manuka or not, not really interested. The only sticking point is there is a copyright fight over whether Aus. honey can be marketed as Manuka. It is said the Aus. Manuka is the strongest bacterial honey in the World, ATM they can not market it as Manuka. EDIT, honey from that species can be traced back to 1822, in AUS..

Previous was from a DUTCH government body, roughly equivalent to the US "CDC" and until further notice, I'd accept they have less reason to BS than the CDC (Check CDC funding sources.... )

For example, this from another BMJ article:-

"...A recent peer-reviewed paper by one of the world’s most cited and respected scientist, Professor John Ioannidis of Stanford University, quotes an infection fatality rate (IFR) for Covid of 0.00-0.57% (0.05% for under 70s), far lower than originally feared and no different to severe flu [3]. This paper is published on WHO’s own Bulletin but ignored by UK mainstream media...."

Mate you are still talking about mortality rate and not total mortality. Covid19 has killed many many times more people in the same period that the flu has done in the last few decades. Are you going to accept that or still talk fatality rates for those who contract the virus?

    Cheers

While other reports say it is probably a load of crap, well they didn't actually say crap but it was implied.

For years I have believed it's bug killing qualities but have never put it to the test. I also understood that Honey (General Purpose) was good for some things including burns, but again have never put it to the test. Funny that.

Jezuz don't let you know who, hear that bob, she reckons I'm getting too big for my boots already & increasing any wisdom could be the straw etc etc. back.

Don't know what other reports you are talking about, honey has been used as an antibiotic since Ancient Egypt. It was used in WW1 on wounds. Don't sell yourself short. Your time on this planet has made you an elder. with a lifetime of knowledge. And you gained that knowledge before the time of social media, of which I'm sure history will record has scrambled peoples minds, and sensibilities. I'm waxing lyrical, because I've had some Guiness. A wee dram before bed. Or is that whiskey? No matter, never let modern man's insecurities and prejudices diminish your self esteem. Wives , on the other hand are like the slaves who rode with Caesar, thru the streets to the Temple of Jupiter, on the Capitoline hill , to offer sacrifice to the Temple, after coming home triumphant from battle. The slaves would whisper in Caesar's ear "Remember you are mortal " However I recommend you do not treat SWMBO as a slave.
