Apparently even trumpy may have it now.
Cant expect people to be aware of entire countries shutting down and pass that off as just hysteria or whatever.
There is some method in there madness. Sadly it should have happened here already instead of life as normal and concerts/special events going on regardless.
Agree, Italy locks down the whole Country (but large numbers of that population are being allowed to come here & move around without any restriction?!), major events being postponed all over the world, but good old Aussie continues to hold major events, including the ( and I'm a big fan!) Grand Prix, letting tens of thousands in willy nilly,...absolute madness IMHO.

    Thanks Pickles.
Careful siding with me though. Im not much liked on this forum.

At Bob. This goes back several pages mate.
Started with dunny rolls and me saying when i noticed i stocked up on stuff as i expected all to do.

Not hording or getting 100 rolls. Just enough to last 2 weeks if the need arose.
I will continue to have 2 weeks supply on hand and do the regular shop as if life was normal.

Words like MORONS, IDIOTS etc started to get used which i took a little offence to as prevention is better than a cure and ignorance is no excuse.
It makes you prepared not a moron. Anyway enough of that talk.....

Several posts, down playing the virus situation got my attention. Some of which were yours mate.
I dont agree with you on your earlier posts.
Seems after your last post your actually on the same page as me but dont want to say it openly and honestly.
That does not make me bad mate. Im a bluntly honest guy.

A bit of fear is A GOOD THING!!

I wish our Government felt the same way. Be pro active instead of waiting.

I remember the aids days when prevention was better than a cure was the wording i grew up with.

I see no difference now. Prevention is what we want even if at the cost of a few weeks of us shut down, country takes a financial hit and hopefully we come out the other side relatively unscathed.

Instead we do life as normal as you earlier suggested which will spread this virus.

Anyway i need to step away from this thread before i get myself ignored from everyone or banned by the powers that be.

Once again i hope no one here gets the virus as i hoped no one in our great land would.

Horse has bolted on the latter but i can still hope none of you old grumpy bastards get it and i do hope that.

    Peace.

Company’s in AUS that are switched on are already preparing.....Doing test scenarios making the whole of offices work from home for the day to see he impact and short falls. At least one bank has also been doing this.

Our company, sites that are automated are reviewing how few of resources are required to run the plant and adjusting work alone policies......in some cases this is to ensure some Aussies down have drinkable water and functioning sewage systems. The is without being told by the authorities.....not sure the dills are across essential services.

I note today that another Country, Ireland, has shown common sense, for a REALLY big day, they have cancelled all celebrations for their National Day, St. Patrick's Day,..a brave & sensible decision IMHO,.....obviously they have different values than Aussie???!!!

If they aren't here already, will they be allowed to leave a locked down Country? More important for them, will they be allowed back in? Think on Alfonso, you never saw that coming.

Those who are here already will have to take their chances like anybody else.

My take on our country's preparedness.

There are ~100 cases of coronavirus in a country that has good health systems that our residents will avail themselves of. Unlike some other places. At this stage a couple of things are certain, we will have coronavirus for some time and it is unlikely that Australia can eradicate it and if we did, we could have no international travel as we would be under constant threat of importing new infections, so Quarantining the country is not realistic in a world where the virus is endemic.

We are doing a pretty good job of containing the spread of the disease and moderating the effect on our health services. Why would we, for instance place everyone in Sydney in a quarantine as was suggested in the media today? what would that achieve besides decimating productivity and leaving casual workers with no income?

We are all going to get the virus, that is certain, hopefully we can delay as long as possible so that there is a vaccine available to mitigate the worst outcomes.

Take a deep breath, observe good hygene and maybe avoid unnecessary exposure to crowds (mostly not a problem for me, I don't like people) The big difference in Australia that we should take credit for is that we have a pretty good handle on the numbers of people that have the virus, unlike the US where it was circulating in Washington state for weeks and they were unaware and where there is little incentive for people to get tested or be confirmed as having the virus.

I think we have been there for a while, its just been hidden by figures that appear in the media.

Seven quarters of falling new vehicle sales, and interest rates dropping to record lows.

Bankruptcies, particularly among construction companies at record highs.

Super funds are copping a battering, and its not going to let up.

Dropping of fuel prices will help,if they do long term, which i doubt.

Went to Woolies today to pick up some Vegies and had a look at the Dunny Roll section and low and behold not a single roll there , shelf completely MT .

It gets worse besides no Dunny Rolls all but a couple of rolls of Handy paper tidy towels have been stripped from the shelves .

And it gets even worser besides no Dunny Rolls and paper tidy towels all the boxes of Facial Tissues also gone .

I am at a complete loss to understand such mass hysteria over bloody Dunny Paper and other paper products in this Country . Although i can understand the facial Tissues being sort after, sort of .

Life is a lot Toilet Paper
    Your either on a roll
or taking **** from someone .

We haven't bought any toilet rolls for about 3 weeks.

So we need some soon, but if we go down the shops and manage to get some,i am sure some are going to point at us, and mumble, look at those idiots

    Oh well,such is life.
