If you are in the at risk group, or entitled to a free flu virus injection, vaccine should have been put aside for you. By all means talk to your GP.
More than 12 million vaccines have already been distributed across the country — two-thirds of which are for people who are eligible for a free shot under national or state immunisation programs. While supply for those programs — targeting the elderly, young children and pregnant — is secure, there has been “unprecedented demand” for flu vaccines through GPs and pharmacists.

I have been, & will continue to be critical of the running of the AGP. Don't care who's responsible, IMHO, it should've been cancelled, the same as has happened with thousands of events world wide, in some countries who already have better preventative measures in place than we do. All its running has done is greatly increased the risk.
Like I said, already 3 positive in F1 Teams, and the risk of very large infections at the AGP is massive, particularly with individualss from Countries like Italy, where Corona Virus went from under 100, to 10,000 cases in less than TWO WEEKS. Of course there are some on here who obviously think they know more than me, (I do admit I don't know much), Our current positive number is around 100,....imagine if we went to 10,000 in two weeks,....how would Aussie handle that.
Positive numbers are increasing all over the world, in some areas very rapidly, and financial markets are in catastrophic free fall.
So you know what, I honestly really don't mind being called a "Scaremonger", I rather think I'm being a realist, because I'm equally, maybe more so, confirmed about the economic aspect, which some haven't even mentioned. I believe the economic impact will eventually prove to be far more devastating, with more far reaching consequences for Aussie, than the Virus.
So, of course, the above is just the opinion of "The Scaremonger".
Pickles.
I suspect that you may be right but I guess looking at it from a risk mitigation perspective we are limiting the exposure of those who may be infected to the general public, there has clearly been scanning and monitoring of the travellers and isolation of those with symptoms has happened so it has not been entirely without mitigation. If you make the assumption that there is minimal risk to the spectators i.e. we know that there are unlikely to be carriers in the crowd because we know that there are X infections in Melbourne then the risk is diminished against the benefits of not cancelling the GP.
The Royal Easter Show will have to make the same decision in Sydney soon and Skyfire is on in Canberra this weekend which will result in 100,000 people being in close proximity but the risk is low if there is only one case of coronavirus in the ACT and their movements have been tracked and potential contacts isolated.
The shutdown of crowd events overseas is occuring in countries where the virus is well established and there is a risk simply of having people congregating in one place, despite the hysteria in the media Australia is not yet at that point.
Regards,
Tote

Thanks, that would be good. My son is a casual worker [no pun intended] and I've explained what may happen, but he isn't keen on two weeks with mum & dad, and no money. When I told him he wouldn't be allowed out to spend it, he has been looking on line at how to look after yourself and minimise your chances of getting the virus. Up to this point, I don't think he cared much. A bit of motivation helps.

I'm a mostly fully self funded retiree, with super from my Navy days, and the Post Office. I am and I'm sure, so is almost every one else here, fully aware of what may happen. However, we can only do what we can do. I've placed all my super into the cash part my investment plan. The same as I did in 2008. I won't make any money, but I won't lose the lot, either. The market will bounce back, some time. I trust my super managers to be proactive and source out the best stock to invest in while the market is low, to give us the best return when the market recovers. Whatever happens, I started off with nothing, and if I/we end up with nothing, we will survive. I see it as a challenge. A challenge to maintain a positive disposition, and a challenge not to moan about my lot. I don't know which is the most difficult challenge. Whatever happens, we will survive. I've had bread and dripping before, the only problem will be the rabbits all have Myxo now. But I know where to run a bait net, to catch plenty fish. [ If you don't get caught. ]Eliminate the negative, accentuate the positive, latch on to the affirmative , don't deal with Mr in-between.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. [ probably inappropriate with the corona virus, but you know what, **** the corona virus.]
