Queensland have also closed all gun dealers. Too bad if a cocky needs ammo to run his farm. Also the shop in question does not only sell guns and ammo by the look of it.
Animal husbandry, pest management to suffer under sudden gun dealership closures | North Queensland Register | Queensland

Misguided state governments with an agenda to appear "Tough"

The Victorian situation is less severe with new applications for firearms suspended. I don't know the rules there, maybe you need a permit for ammunition, if so this is also stopped for recreational shooters but is still open for those which have a need such as farmers etc.

I went out and bought some ammo this morning just in case aunty Gladys gets any ideas.

Individually I think the staff attitude often represents the managers attitude and not necessarily the chain as a whole.
That's also a difference between towns and locales, too.

I haven't been to a gun shop for at least 4 years and I still have plenty of ammo
IF I run out I can always reload some more
In WA you HAVE to have a licence to buy ammo and it isn't that easy to get a firearm licence in the West in the first place.
I cannot see any value other than grandstanding by pollies in closing down the gun shops.

Stopping people from buying any New firearm or obtaining a firearm licence during this pandemic "May" have a Some merit But shutting down the gun shops themselves for the "Duration" wont serve Any purpose other than pushing a particular political agenda.

So you are quite happy with me putting down sheep by cutting their throats then. Its not the generally accepted method any more because it upsets people. Similarly I'll chase foxes and run them over, that's fairly effective but not as efficient as using a rifle.

I'll not say any more but if you want to argue further there's always CA.

Here in the ACT, the schools are closed but the 40kph School Zones are still in place.

I planned for my retirement and got two rental units 30 years ago - no longer have mortgages but still all the other expenses - rates, water, body corporate and whatever is left from the rent goes to support my day to day living.

Now there is a good chance my tenants will default and under the current rules I will have to let them stay there rent free and pay their water usage - if I still had mortgages I might get assistance but as I dont have any no luck there. So my income will drop very low and because of the assets test (low income though) I will not be able to claim any government benefits and have to wear the loss myself.

Like most self funded retirees, I did the right thing in my working life and planned ahead and at each crisis, it is self funded retirees that dip out. I am expected to fund my tenants but get nothing back in return .

Thankfully I am a bit of a porker so should survive for a while .

We could always use snares on rabbits, foxes, cats and the odd townie dog that thinks that chasing/killing sheep is fun to control them, Much more humane than a brain shot from a rifle

Anyway WAY Off subject, Shutting down the gun shops during this emergency won't help stop the spread of this virus whatsoever and is a Pointless politically motivated move IMHO.

Although not reported, I believe Aussies were also panic buying firearms, there's none on the shelves at my local supermarkets.

Wot, not even a boxed GPMG?
