If there is a slight chance it will help just one person than that’s good enough for me.
Sadly with to media and pollies knocking it i doubt they’ll get the uptake required.
NO.
doubly so as the data is not in 110% Australian Company hands... and we need to use our real name to get a SIM card. Which means no point in getting another phone / SIM plan.
Maybe, and a VERY big "Maybe" if we had 'burner' or totally anonymous mobiles, I might re-think if I was feeling generous. Or risky.
But no way am I revealing or exposing my long-standing mobile number to anyone...

If you own a smart phone everything you do is not private.

Just wondering out loud here but... a conundrum.
If I (no app) come into contact with someone (using the app) who later goes on to show symptoms, my contact with him does not show and therefore I am not on a tracing list (unless he remembers an old grey beard driving a ratty old 110). Meanwhile, all the unknown issues around privacy we are all overly familiar with regarding govt security of the info. NZ has had issues around govt dept's being slack with IT security and I am cautious in this regard.
Pro's and con's aplenty.
NZ is a week away from having a govt sanctioned app-based tracing system so I will be interested to see how they manage it.
We are hearing noise here about opening NZ and Aust borders to each others visitors. Compatibility of tracing app would be a requisite to this I would imagine. I wonder if they've considered this in their govt musings of both app and borders.
