Once people started to get sick in large numbers, does anyone really expect that most of the businesses that have shut down now would still be open? Do they imagine most people will continue with life as usual? Reports from overseas show only small numbers do in this situation.

i dont agree. we would have thousands dead and a few thousand out of work. this is a much better outcome.
the social distancing of 1.5m was necessary, but not the closure of businesses.

Look at the mess the UK is in because it DIDN'T shut its borders.
Compare that with the low rates in Oz and NZ behind closed borders.
Or compare the low outcomes in the states which closed their borders with the higher outcomes in the other states of NSW and Victoria.
'Go early and go hard' is the right choice for pandemics. Delay and its too late and many more die, as the US and UK have shown.

Being revived is most unpleasant , all these people you don't know , meaning well, doing things to you , sticking things in you/on you. Being bundled into and out of and on and off x-ray machines , CT scans, MRI scans. Being given disgusting liquids to show up in your bowel, injections in your spine to enhance radiography , someone you dont know holding your cock trying to get you to **** looking for blood in internals. This is the first couple of hours while the morphine is dripping in at a good rate. Then they take you back to ICU , where they wire you up to so much stuff you can't move anyway , and it sounds like you are in a pinball parlour and they lower the drug intake because they want you to hurt so you can tell them where. There are a couple of beautiful angels continuously hovering over you and at some time they allow your wife and young children to visit and I wish I could have taken their photos that day. I cough up blood into a bowel right in front of my son and it's on again. Nurses , doctors all over me and they up the flow on the saline drip because I still haven't ****ed. I succumb to the morphine and when I awake I've been washed, I'm naked lying on a big lambswool rug because I apparently told them I don't like pyjamas. The two beautiful angels are hovering around. I spent the next few days in ICU with a stream of visitors , sometime I ****ed and was congratulated by everyone.I think the whole hospital knew. I spent another week in hospital , which was boring because my angels disappeared. The rest of this goes on for some time as I recovered.
This is the first time I have related this but it just flowed, hope it didn't offend anyone.

So yeah, I really would rather have been unemployed .
Thanks for sharing that. It must have been a very frightening and confusing time for you.

Are you seriously saying that ten times as many dead is a better outcome?

    Australia 97 24.99 3.88

Confirmed deaths (absolute) Population (in millions) Deaths per million
    Canada 4,823 37.06 130.14

    So ...

Canada's total number of deaths is 49.72 times larger than ours - in a country that's population is only 1.48 times larger that ours.

Canada's death rate per million is 33.54 times higher.

That's 3,354%, if you prefer to look at it that way.

FYI, the Canadians did go into isolation:

Coronavirus deaths: These charts show how Canada compares with the world - Macleans.ca

"For instance, Canada’s death rate—largely the result of deaths in long-term care and seniors’ facilities—is growing much faster than those in South Korea, Japan and Australia, which have slowed their outbreaks dramatically."

You'll note that in the table in this article, of the countries listed Australia has the lowest death-toll.

Agreed - the USA has 20+ million out of work and a very large number dead.

In some rust belt states the unemployment rate is 25%.

I hope the Melbourne demonstrators are tested for C-19 so we know how many of them caught the virus during the demo and are now infecting those around them. Those positive should be locked up in a hotel room for 14 days of isolation while they reflect on their selfishness and stupidity.

    Bill the Baptist...

Over the past 10 or so year, Billy Goat has doubled his nett worth, - by giving away $quillions. (Billion$, to be precise) -
Anyway, for some balance, here's one of a series being done on him, lots of interesting background info, especially from PRO-Vaccinators.

Episode 378 – Bill Gates’ Plan to Vaccinate the World : The Corbett Report You have a choice, audio only, video, or transcript of the video.

This is the previous one in the series, YouTube or use this if youtube is down...

MUST SEE: How Bill Gates Monopolized Global Health | GreenMedInfo

For a college drop - out, who's only claim to fame is producing an original piece or three of software, has far less medical knowledge / training / experience than many Forum-ites....he's got a lot to $ay about how the world's health should be run.
With that much wealth, and money-making ability the world needs to know what drives him, why? and where?

So what kind of lock-down was used to give such figures ? - or was it a very early, and properly enforced border-closure...

Yes, the British dropped the ball so badly on borders, one wonders if one actually had the ball at any time !

Another good reason to be progressively let out...is our immune systems have been on holiday for the last few weeks... may need some time to wake up !
