well their CFR is better than other countries, so i dont think "world's worst statistics on coping with C-19," is accurate at all.

The W.H.A. and why it is important for an enquiry into the pandemic. The W.H.A is having its annual meeting tonight and tomorrow night. From the annual meetings the policy of the W.H.O. for the next 12 months is formulated. No secret about what will be on the agenda for the next two days. The W.H.A. is the forum to raise the question of an investigation into the virus.

The media in general tends to publish only the news that makes for a good story regardless of where we are talking about. But having said that, I get my most reliable US news from US sources, and it is similar in general terms to what we see here - as one commentator from NZ put it, we should be thankful for the US giving us a clear example of how well we are doing compared to how badly it is possible to do it.

And I would also point out, that if you want to do a bit of digging, transcripts all public statements by the President are archived at the White House, and are on line. Wading through some of this shows that he is even worse than the news bites that we see on TV! (Of course, any transcript of the spoken word usually looks pretty lame, except sometimes for prepared speeches - but then, have you seen some of the garbage in his twitter feeds?)

The Associated Press has done a fact check on Trump, and GOP falsehoods on Flynn, Biden and the virus. Trump & co do not come out of it well at all. He gets some good press on FOX.

Well not really. You can’t lump the country as a whole. It is a large place and every state does whatever they want. It is not a country in the way you guys see a country.

The CFR is 1 to 2% everywhere and really only varies based on demographics. The CFR based on age is consistent everywhere.

You need to look at locales where outbreaks have happened like NYC. It is the worst in the world. They are around 20% infected and 0.25% dead of total population.

Total confirmed cases, total deaths, new cases per day, deaths per day, duration of pandemic without a significant drop in new cases per day, time without an effective national response, number of armed protests against any effective response etc. Probably a few more, but these are some of the obvious ones.
