I am gearing up for my annual august trip ....I do two each year if I can, the other in april.

Because we are moving around a lot ie possibly through 4 states , I started to make enquiries about border crossings.

Each state has a confusing list of do's and dont's.

So I contacted one of the states police hotlines after seeing their list of "the only places where you can cross the border" and they said if I cross over , when I cross back I have to quarantine for 14 days.....I asked if that was correct..reply "yes".

I said if I choose not to cross that particular point and choose not to go in to that state at all can I go over the top and enter the same state but from a different state. She asked where I might want to cross and I told her and she said..."where's that"? I said don't you know? There is no other crossing for 100s of km other than thru cattle stations......she didn't know. I would have thought a police enquiry centre would have maps.

She said if I needed to enquire about other border crossing then I need to contact the respective state police hotlines.

I said I may want to traverse 4 states, she said be prepared to have to isolate/quarantine depending on which state you enter first or last

I said isn't there some guideline to which direction I can travel.

She said no , each state treats each crossing individually and if there is any outbreak in any state you are travelling you may be forced to stop and isolate.

I said seeing I wasn't intending leaving until this time next month is there any possibility of forwarding my complete travel plan to one authority and having it ok'd?

NO..... it doesn't allow for that.

any one wanna buy a 4wd that takes you where there is no covid 19?
Maybe it would be better to forgo your trips at this time and be a responsible adult so that there is NO chance you will catch/spread this virus by doing unessential travelling.
Many of us have cancelled our usual trips because it is Simply the right thing to do at this time because we actually Care about other people.

I see NSW pub now has 21 cases
Some of those being school teachers
Also new cases linked to a casino and one to a gym

Instead of waiting another week to wait and see what happens, NSW government needs to put their foot down and put some precautions in place
I’m not suggesting full lock down, but maybe restrictions on travel between regions of the state as McGowan did over here in WA
It seems as with the Victorian outbreak, the government took too long to act
If we want to get back to some sort of normal in Australia the government (state and federal) needs to be respond quicker
The population need to accept the fact that it is how it is and to keep their distance from each other (not just during COVID times, I was brought up to respect other people’s space and try not to invade it)

We all would like to travel between states and even to go visit our cousi bro’s on the other side of the ditch, but I can’t see it happening any time soon due to people just trying to find any way or excuse to travel
If we were in a war situation would they still try and travel around the country side??

I’m glad to be in WA where the
    Premier has closed the state

Maybe, just maybe, the NSW border should have been closed and monitored much earlier, just like QLD, hey?
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

We just bought a caravan, our first. We are not going any where until we are sure the Mexicans haven't infected QLD.

Qld vaccine study a "World First ".

“We asked Queenslanders to roll up their sleeves to save lives – and they’ve answered the call in droves.
“We needed up to 120 volunteers for the first stage. More than 4000 people have put up their hands to volunteer.”
The clinical batch of vaccine for use in the trial was manufactured in a close partnership between UQ and CSIRO with technical assistance by Australian biotech company CSL, Brisbane’s Thermo Fisher and Swedish company Cytiva.

Can you believe this. Americans are throwing COVID parties, with a prize for the first to get infected.

'COVID parties': Wildly irresponsible trend that's killing people

I guess we are not much better. Vic. Police issue $100,000 worth of fines in one day.

Crossing the fine line: Police rake in more than $100,000 in a day

Only now are NSW pubs taking names and phone numbers of patrons. For tracing purposes. I find it hard to believe, considering it's common practice here, and has been for a while.

WHO warns coronavirus crisis may get worse, as Australian on edge

There are concerns infections could soar, with NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant on Monday revealing other venues across Sydney may have been exposed to the virus between June 27 and July 10 after visits from people linked to the pub outbreak.

These include Picton Hotel, Planet Fitness gym in Casula, Canterbury Leagues Club, Narellan Town Centre and Zone Bowling in Villawood.
Under the new rules, pubs will have to start taking down contact details of patrons and they will not be allowed to have more than 300 people inside their venue irrespective of its size, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

    EDIT.
Victorian officials have also raised the alarm after two cases in that state were found to have visited NSW venues earlier this month.
NSW Health said those infected people visited:

    • Murray Downs golf club, on July 4 and 5
    • Cook @ Kurnell on July 5, for lunch
    • Highfield, Caringbah on July 5 for dinner
    • Merimbula RSL on July 6, for dinner
    • The Waterfront Café Merimbula on July 7, for breakfast.
