Getting a takeaway dinner isn't shopping for food it is going out for a meal So it looks like Old Mate will not only have to pay the fine he will also have to pay the court costs as well when he looses his case
Thought picking up a take away order was permitted - If it wasn't, then no Fast Food shops should be allowed to serve customers - delivery only - and this isn't the case - Food Shops are allowed to serve take away and home delivery - so based on that, you certainly are allowed to go get some - while driving 32KM to get it is a bit rich, there is also nothing I can see that limits how far you are or aren't allowed to drive so I think the fine will be thrown out in court even if it gets that far.

Do I condone his actions - no, but I don't think he's breaking any of the lockdown laws to be honest.

I reckon that with the isolated nature of the Qld case, the resources that should be available to trace contacts and isolate them it should be able to be contained. These outbreaks are going to be an ongoing feature of living with Covid and the key is acting early and tracing so that control can be maintained and lockdowns are not required. It's also silly for Pemiers to be standing too high on their soapbox and crowing about eliminating the virus as it only takes a single slip up for it to escape.
When NSW and Victoria get to the point where they have controlled community transmission then there will also be no need for border closures. Yes, I know neither state is there yet.

And yet just now on the news a state leader stood with the backdrop of a barbed wire fence... Talking about how one state may or may not be better than other states and blaming the current issue in their state on humans that may well be residents of their state but dared to travel outside the border...

This is bigger than a 'friendly' banter between residents of any state in Australia [Or NZ] and the fact that here we are 6+months later but there is still petty bs and mud slinging proves nothing

    SELFISH COVID COWS!

Two new COVID cases in Qld spark criminal investigation into border declaration
There are growing concerns in Queensland after two young women who arrived from Melbourne tested positive.

Two young women have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Queensland, Health Minister Steven Miles announced today.

One is believed to be a worker at the Parklands Christian College at Park Ridge. A criminal investigation will be launched because the two operated dishonestly on arrival.

Mr Miles reported they were two 19-year-old females who had travelled to Melbourne together via Sydney and returned on July 21 on flights VA563 and VA977.

One is from Acacia Ridge one from Logan, in Brisbane’s southern suburbs.

Queensland Health were in the process of setting up rapid testing stations throughout southern Brisbane and those who had any concerns were encouraged to get tested.

These young women have gone about their business in the communities they live in – so there will be a large amount of contact tracing to be done – largely within in the Logan and Springfield areas.”

Mr Miles said, the women had visited shopping centres, a restaurant and a church in the area and Queensland Health contact tracers were investigating these leads.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said these young women’s behaviour would inconvenience many people throughout the community, as the facilities they had visited would be closed until deep cleaning and contact tracing had been finalised.

Dr Young also announced that all aged-care facilities in Queensland’s metro south area would once again be closed to visitors as an additional precaution.

“We need to act fast, these young women have been out in the community for eight days unwell,” Dr Young said.

“If you have any concerns get your self tested as soon as possible and if you’re unwell stay at home.”

Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said the circumstances of the young women’s re-entry into Queensland from Melbourne was an ongoing criminal investigation.

“Initial investigations indicate there were incorrect details on border declaration passes,” Mr Gollschewski said.

“This highlights why you need to declare if you’ve been to Victoria where there’s been a high instance of community transmission.

“You need to think about those around you - not just yourself.”

Throw the book at them, jail if they have to,that is after they have been cleared of the virus.
These types think they are smart and clever and above the rules.
No doubt the passes were falsified.

Up to life imprisonment can be imposed for manslaughter. If anyone dies from this outbreak these women should be charged wit manslaughter.
Any individual, business or organisation that has incured costs or lost income, should be able to claim compensation from these irresponsible, selfish cheats

Speaking of charging people. I wonder if the managers, owners, staff of those aged homes will be investigated/charged under the Domestic Violence regs. Deprivation of food, of medicines, access to showers/bathrooms, no family/friend contact, isolation etc..... all seem to qualify for legal action.
