Many of the people, forced into this situation, will have come from a culture where social security and charity are nonexistent, so would not be a consideration in the decision making process. Cultural expectations should be considered by us more fortunate.
I'm not agreeing with, nor trying to excuse these peoples' decisions, just understand them.

When you have these sorts of numbers of people that have tested positive to the virus NOT isolating then SOMETHING HAS to be done about it regardless of social or cultural "Expectations".
This sort of behavior has a very real danger of causing a "Firestorm" of new infections.

Secondly i was replying to V8Ian post , if you want to take it as a general attack on you and the people of Vic then so be it . By the way i have family in Vic and i am as worried for them as you are for yours . I did not make the rules your premier did !! and if people are put into a bad situation then there are avenues available to get help .

Not sure where you got the second bit from, I didn't think you made an attack on Vic at all, so maybe that's in your head, not mine.

After looking at the figures from Victoria, and wondering how long before NSW heads down the same road, today I went into town. Should be able to self-isolate for up to six weeks if necessary now, although by the end of that time the diet might be getting a bit monotonous, and may include the odd feral goat or perhaps roo.

Road is barely passable after last weekend's rain, water everywhere. More forecat at the end of next week.

Or they're in the toilet, or they're in the shower, or they didn't hear the knock, or they're of the belief that they're not allowed to answer the door whilst in quarantine, there are a myriad of reasons for not answering the door.
The sensational headline served its purpose though, it got you to read it.
I'm not suggesting that everyone with the virus is complying, but just because someone doesn't answer the door does not indicate refusal to comply. Keep it in perspective, that's a damned long bow!

totaly agree ian. im working from home and i work odd hours. if someone turned up between 9-5 to check on me, only a 50% chance im awake and can answer the door.

When the coppers or the ADF bang on your door it is pretty unmistakable that someone is there and a condition of home isolating is that you comply by answering the door when these people call around.
This would have been explained to the people that are in isolation and the ONLY valid reason for not answering the door is that they are not there.
IF they are on the dunny or in the shower they could yell out and let the people doing the checking know that they are home that they will have to wait a few min for them to answer the door.
Why are people making up endless **** poor excuses for some peoples **** poor behavior is beyond my comprehension ???

It is NOT as if this home isolation is a brand new concept this has been going on for months now which makes the "I didn't know" excuse pure BS So what part of stay the **** at home while in isolation don't people understand??

But YES there ARE dickheads all over the country, The worst of which at this point in time are actually 3 particular/peculiar Queenslanders.

There is now another,some poor innocent guy sitting at a table at a restaurant,adjacent to the one that two of those lowlifes were at.

So off on a shoplifting spree,or whatever,but living it up at restaurants.

FFS,definitely deserve to be locked up.

Clive wants to move to Perth or fly in and fly out at his whim. I sort of feel he tops the list in some peoples opinion. I only assume he is a Queenslander then found out he might be a Victorian "Footscray, Victoria, Australia" apparently. Bugger- We don't want him. Toowoomba only wants him for the money he owes I thought. Anybody want him?
