Disgraceul is not a strong enough word !!. Just like the incident where a doctor was killed outside the entry of Box Hill hospital a couple of years back for telling a smoker off for smoking in the no smoking area, under the sign of no smoking!
We as a society should demand even more tougher penalties for these perpetrators

The question of whether he should have gone into quarantine in Sydney raises the question of whether Danni Minogue should have been quarantining at her residence, similarly the Prime Minister, Marise Payne etc who also do not have to go into government quarantine but are required to self isolate at home.

Wont happen again,EVERYONE,coming into QLd from overseas,no matter who they are, have to do the mandatory 14 day isolation now,no exceptions.
The Govt has changed the rules.
Looks like they had to learn the hard way.

There's some vague guff on their website about sponsoring agencies being able to request diplomatic passports so it begins to sound like some Government agency put in for the diplomatic passport for a static guard and hasn't properly administered it. Given how quickly DFAT denied that he was a diplomat he's obviously not one of theirs:

Canberra is full of idiots trying to get diplomatic status - one Australian I knew of used to befriend foreign consular staff so that they could borrow their cars and drive around on DC number plates.

Trying to keep up with this EXEMPTION stuff & finding it all too difficult with varying conditions & Penalties. Me 'ead 'urts.

In times like this surely NO Exemption should be allowed. For anybody, repeat, anybody. It does not make sense to me, put people in Quarantine & then allow the ****er out to travel onwards or even locally.

What is the actual meaning of quarantine?
noun. a strict isolation imposed to prevent the spread of disease. a period, originally 40 days, of detention or isolation imposed upon ships, persons, animals, or plants on arrival at a port or place, when suspected of carrying some infectious or contagious disease.

FFS, if they are in quarantine then they are in quarantine, end of story. If the authorities sincerely want to stop this thing then "Tough titties Mate/Madam you are not going anywhere," should be the slogan. I'm quite fed up with how these "miscreants" are being treated & the sooner Quarantine means Quarantine of at least 14 days the better it will be for all Australians.

Back in the days of our Torrens Island being used as a Q Station mainly for Smallpox cases. (Island being the operative word) you wouldn't get off until the Health authorities said you could & then a Commonwealth Health Dept. Launch would expressly call for you & some lucky others at your Island refuge, until then it was remote living, usually with other afflicted Passengers on a sand island surrounded by Mangroves. In today's TV Reality Events for Television this could even prove quite popular with some types.

Regular 4 meals a day, medical care. Solitude in a not unpleasant place.

(By some accounts, not a bad life really if you didn't wish to rush off somewhere. Not unlike a bit of Recruit Training at various Military Establishments in Australia for those who have done this). But without the bangy things & Drill Sergeant, obviously.

That is what happened when Overseas Liners arrived with the dreaded Smallpox on board. The didn't get to run off to a posh place of Residence like a few cases reported in OZ. Smallpox didn't spread either because of strong procedures in place for just these times.

I believe we were quite unprepared for this event & were really caught on the hop no matter where it had originated.

DFAT acknowledged that he was a contractor who was working for them. Although he may have been issued with a Diplomatic passport he would not be consular staff and so all the "benefits " that people traditionally associate with being a diplomat do not apply. Most countries have a register of diplomats and if not on the list then they are not considered diplomats regardless of the passport they are carrying (with a couple of exceptions that are not relevant here)

    Covid Locak down

Just went to the car- Melbourne Curfew kicked in an hour plus ago. I am at work- yep one of those lucky essential industries.

Guess who stopped for a chat. Happy to say thank you and keep safe to the two polite police officers.

Apparently the woman who assaulted the police was one of the "sovereign citizens":

    https://twitter.com/9NewsMelb/status...68004434718724

There's been 3 or 4 cases in the last week where cars have refused to provide details to police at checkpoints, as the Eve Black woman did - and the police have smashed their windows and removed them from their cars.

It sounds like they're deliberately seeking confrontation.

Yep, get that, but why did DFAT wave him through quarantine? Why should having an Australian diplomatic passport entitle you to skip quarantine?
