19,700 tests up to this morning, two positive. One in quarantine in Cairns after returning from OS, one related to the Youth detention centre outbreak. The latter is a trainer of staff, and not involved in the day to day activities. It has been reported in the media he was training people while infected, but the real story is he was training recruits on Friday, with no obvious symptoms, and had a sore throat Saturday, more symptoms Sunday, got tested, and isolated himself. The Genomic testing has not given a 100% link to the girls from Melbourne, but could be any where from VIC. or NSW, which could be a worry. Some one may have sneaked across the border infected. Investigations continue. Now something very few of us think of.
ADVANCE Care PLANNING
What is it?;
What is advance care planning?
Advance care planning is about discussing your goals for future care, in case of a time when you’re unable to communicate or make your own decisions. It works best when it includes health professionals, family members and other significant people (for example, a spiritual advisor).
A competent adult can specify their preferences for future health care in an advance care directive, or nominate a substitute decision-maker to make health-care decisions on their behalf.
The goal is even if a person is too unwell to make decisions, health-care professionals can still respect their preferences.
Only 25% of older Australians have an advance care plan. Coronavirus makes it even more important

Abstract
Background
Waning immunity occurs in patients who have recovered from COVID-19. However, it remains unclear whether true re-infection occurs.
Methods
Whole genome sequencing was performed directly on respiratory specimens collected during two episodes of COVID-19 in a patient. Comparative genome analysis was conducted to differentiate re-infection from persistent viral shedding. Laboratory results, including RT-PCR Ct values and serum SARS-CoV-2 IgG, were analyzed.
Results
The second episode of asymptomatic infection occurred 142 days after the first symptomatic episode in an apparently immunocompetent patient. During the second episode, there was serological evidence of elevated C-reactive protein and SARS-CoV-2 IgG seroconversion. Viral genomes from first and second episodes belong to different clades/lineages. Compared to viral genomes in GISAID, the first virus genome has a stop codon at position 64 of orf8 leading to a truncation of 58 amino acids, and was phylogenetically closely related to strains collected in March/April 2020, while the second virus genome was closely related to strains collected in July/August 2020. Another 23 nucleotide and 13 amino acid differences located in 9 different proteins, including positions of B and T cell epitopes, were found between viruses from the first and second episodes.
Conclusions
Epidemiological, clinical, serological and genomic analyses confirmed that the patient had re-infection instead of persistent viral shedding from first infection. Our results suggest SARS-CoV-2 may continue to circulate among the human populations despite herd immunity due to natural infection or vaccination. Further studies of patients with re-infection will shed light on protective correlates important for vaccine design.

OOOPs, posted the report before the article. Better put the horse first.
The First Repeat Covid-19 Infection Case Isn’t All Bad News | WIRED
The report details how in March, a 33-year-old man living in Hong Kong came down with a sore throat, cough, fever, and headache. Tests confirmed he was positive for the virus. After two weeks in the hospital, his symptoms subsided and he was discharged. He resumed his life. And over the summer, he traveled to Spain. In August, on his way back, he was swabbed at the Hong Kong airport, as part of the nation’s strict traveler-screening process designed to catch any reimportations of the virus. He had no fever or cough, no symptoms at all. But the test came back positive again.

Yeah, at times. Although I used to ride (no so much these days) and still own a bike, some others lack of thought irritates me no end and when the guy over the road turns up on his extremely loud Harley in the middle of the night for his drugs - and leaves the bike idling in the driveway for 10 minutes while doing so, certainly impinges on my welfare.
Not putting that in the same category though, just sayin'.![]()

Not sure what happened here, but this ended up in the Rugby thread. Considering some posts ago members were concerned about Schoolies, I think it belongs here. If not , please be careful where you put it.
