Wow - unbelievable - welcome to COVID Normal. Lies, knee jerk reaction, panic, and lots of disruption.

    Bring on the vaccine quick.

There has to be consequences for the individual making a false statement to government officials. People have been incarcerated for lesser crimes than this.

It seems to me that the SA situation has actually been managed pretty well. Faced with an unknown amount of transmission they went for a rapid action to prevent further transmission. Since being able to get the facts around the transmission vectors with more certainty, the SA govt has started to wind back those hard measures and have admitted that they may have overreacted. At least they didn't drag the lockdown on for weeks when it wasn't necessary and have demonstrated a competent tracing system. Most importantly they have reacted to remove the restrictions as the threat recedes, something QLD and WA still have not managed to do months after the threat level has receded.

The story I read said the liar said he bought a pizza in a box, which could have meant it was carried on the surface of the box, which opened up all sorts of possibilities for how it was transported and that it was a particularly virulent strain. But if it was actually transmitted by people working together, that is a well-known route and didn't justify a lock down.

thats more or less what happened. it also impacted the incubation period from 1-2 days to 1-2 weeks (like normal)

Read it again tote, I wasn't implying that, but each state has had more than their fair share of Liars that has kept this thing rolling along at great expense & inconvenience to States. The two Women case springs to mind.

This guy was just another one of those.

It may not be a chargeable offence to Lie in SA (bull**** yes) but I bet some Trader may make a Civil Action out of it having lost perishable goods etc etc, for instance, & Sue him. Now, whether he has sufficient collateral & funds behind him will of course will be another point in that decision but it seems unlikely from his circumstances.

together, that is a well-known route and didn't justify a lock down.
Who can say with certainty at this stage? For me & mine it was a good move & better safe than sorry. Gets our vote.

EDIT. Of course no one would purposely go out of their way to get this disease but it was the intention to deceive that had made it more of a problem.
