Atagi haven’t changed their advice, it was always in favour of AZ if risk of infection is higher. It’s just the relative risk profile that’s changed. It’s Atagis job to be cautious.
However as a result of the extreme shortage of mRNA vaccines in Australia, Australians are tired of being treated as second class citizens of the world in this pandemic, so despite the low risk associated with AZ, most want the best vaccine, not just because of blood clot risk.
The optics of most leaders, athletes, wealthy getting Pfizer even when they weren’t eligible certainly doesn’t help.
But in reality most don’t realise it’s a first world problem - many countries in the world don’t have enough of any vaccine. AZ is certainly better than no vaccine in high out break areas, which is what Atagi advice is. Perhaps Aus should send all its AZ to disadvantaged countries if Brad Hazzard and everyone else doesn’t want it in Aus. That would be even more neighbourly in a global pandemic.

Correct.
I hardly think that's the case. They've been pleading with people to get vaccinated with what ever they can get. They want to get more Pfizer because of the idiots who refuse to consider AZ.
Perhaps we could tone down the hyperbole a tad?
Cheers,

So your GP telling you Astra is a high risk or no go for you based on your health and the medications you take is responsible.
But a GP making a blanket comment to a patient that a particular vaccine is no good for anyone and that patient sprouting it to others is not good.
Well if there was doubt about Covid being out of control in Sydney there may be no doubt after the protests today. I know people are frustrated but that was crazy stuff. And of course the grubs were out in force too. Interestingly a large part of the mob were booing the media ....reeks of US Insta specials (conspiracy theorists). Cheers
I had been hanging off for Phizer , my GP & one of the others in the practice were telling me that the Health Authority's were saying that with the blood condition I have I could have AZ . My wife & I went to see another doctor in the practice because we were booth concerned about having AZ . This lady doctor noticed that I had only had 1 out of 4 tests for this blood condition. Two days later she got the 1st of the 3 additional tests back which conferred I was not to have the AZ. The two of us were to have AZ the next day, so my wife had hers & I had my Phizer a week later after the doctor got permission to give it to me due to the fact I am over 70.
Neither of have had any side affects from either . I don't blame the 1st two doctors they were only relying on the advice of the Gov Health Authority.
Factor 5 is a inherited blood clotting disorder that affects northern European people , my father died from a blood clot , I inherited it from him & I have passed it on to our youngest daughter. Seams I only have to walk into a hospital & I come home with clots & end up on blood thinners for the next 6 months. That's not quite true I have been to hospital three times & all three times have come home with clots .
