Thanks to a COVID+ person visiting our local IGA on the 21st I became a casual contact and had to get tested yesterday along with the rest of my family. Test was done at about 12:00PM with the results coming through via text at 8:30AM this morning for all 4 of us. So about 20.5 hrs test to result.
It took a week for the site to be identified as a hotspot which, I think comes down to how long it takes for an individual to decide to get tested or they are forced to get a test because of another contact with contact tracing to follow. This is where the real issue lies with this strain. In that time it will easily have passed onto others.
The bulk of our community headed off for the test yesterday and so far I haven't heard of any issues but we'll have to wait and see...We'll need another test in 5 days.
Disappointingly, some (nice) people I know in our town are anti the vaccine and go so far as to say the virus is a hoax. I have heard rumours that they attended the rally last Saturday but I'm yet to confirm that for myself. I'm battling with myself on how to deal with it. Like I said, nice people but misguided.
My daughter was tested on Wednesday at 1630 negative result came through this morning at 0120 so just under 33hours to get a result. This was from a private lab that I heard was a bit slow, not the one that has been publicised though.
