So, to all the (mostly interstate ) commentators what would you do? A hint here - magically swapping the government just puts another bunch of numpties in charge who would do exactly the same things to control the outbreak.
Its pretty easy to throw rocks at the NSW govt but I haven't seen any suggestions that might work.
It's interesting to compare the Victorian "success" of the short sharp lockdown that's still going a couple of weeks later with 20 cases a day. How long until that is 50 - 100 - 300 cases a day?
The NSW govt is pursuing the only way that is viable to resolve the situation - vaccinating as many people as possible and waiting until those numbers reach a level that suppresses hospitalisations is probably the only way way out. It's worth mentioning that the case numbers are a very long way from "out of control" which would be represented by an exponential rate of infection growth. By the way on the 5th of August last year Victoria had 725 cases......
It's not going to be a quick and easy way out, maybe we can get enough people vaccinated so that NSW can operate in the same way that the US and the UK do today, it will be interesting to see how the other states go with that concept, my bet is that state borders will be closed longer than international borders at this rate.
