    Iceland and Privacy

Iceland has "1590 active cases. About 20 are in hospital, with a quarter of those in intensive care"- the very low number of very sick people about 5, is highly likely proof vaccination is working very well. It is not clear if any of the 5 are vaccinated.

On Privacy. The man who stole my bike was protected by pool, council and a inept police constable until I pushed very hard and found the thief for the inept police constable. "A man, aged in his 50s" in NSW privacy is being protected so clearly it is almost laughable (so ludicrous it is amusing).

The huge cost to the Norther Beaches community caused by a selfish silent and protected 50 year old is
    1-Fine or
    2-Grossly unreasonable or
    3-Grossly offensive and unreasonable?

I vote 3. The lettuce slap he will get is in no way commensurate with the costs he as caused you all. I know his name will surface. Means little to me but seems very appropriate at the same time.

Gladys Berejiklian considering ‘options’ to ease lockdown (msn.com)

Sky News was saying last night that Ms Berejiklian was going to bring in sensible restrictions. I presumed that they meant stricter restrictions because of the higher case numbers, but no, they were applauding looser restrictions because of higher numbers.

It's beyond a joke - NSW will either be locked out of every other State indefinitely or infect every other State.

It's weird to see a US style politicised response playing out just across the border.

NSW hotel quarantine triggered Vic lockdown

In tracing one of the Victorian clusters they now think that the index case (the teacher at Al-Taqwa College) got it from family members who went through hotel quarantine in Sydney a month or so ago.

The family members presumably didn't do 17 or 20 day testing and therefore may have been infecting people all over Melbourne ever since.

So, it appears that Sydney's current outbreak has now triggered both lockdown #5.0 and lockdown #6.0 in Victoria.

In NSW the Public Health Act -S7 makes the Minister for Health (Brad Hazzard) the decision-maker.
Other states have declared states of emergency and made their CHOs (Brett Sutton, Janet Young etc) the decision-makers.
The results are pretty obvious, I think.

If the present situation is not improved , and gets progressively worse, isn't there a case for a vote of no confidence in the NSW government, by the opposition?

I'll hazzard a guess that they're hoping 'it just kind of goes away'.

This could possibly be close to the line, politics wise, but I think it is important. Why would the NSW health Minister refuse to make the advice given by Dr Chant public at the Parliamentary inquiry?

    Brad Hazzard

Maybe it's just me but his name conjures up an image of a Superman type Comic Book character with a fancy fireproof gravitational suit with cape who can travel faster than a speeding bullet & more powerful than a speeding Locomotive etc etc etc etc.

Instead, he is a bespectacled geezer in a woolen/synthetic Fletcher Jones style Suit wearing a mask, not very fast or powerful & pontificating what is best for NSWalers.

Each day he looks to be bored out of his nut as he waits his turn at the Mike.

    Just an observation.

Could be something in that. Is it true that the health Minister has no medical back ground? I suppose it isn't really necessary, it's a political position. Dr Chant is very good friends with our CHO, in Qld. The CHO rates her highly. And that's good enough for me. If the NSW gov. pushes Chant under a bus [ figuratively speaking] the fall out could be disasterous, however politicians have an extremely high level of self preservation. This delta variant finds the fault lines in our comfortable lives, for sure.

Who is doing the investigation, who is in trouble, who is going to take the fall. I (sarcastically) cant imagine why Dr Chants advice wont be made public.
    Cheers
