There are a lot of people that just drive on the beach without any thought of obtaining a permit, at Bribie and up Double Island. So hopefully this will be a deterrent. I believe the other way in is past the Ranger station so they won't go that way and it is a bit of a drive to get to the beach. I'm ok with permits and if you are going to have them they need to be enforced or people just won't bother.

I remember seeing this on tv news when it happened. Unfortunately these types of idiots are also allow to purchase permits.

Yeah, true. Thankfully we've never struck people like that. Almost all have been families, or well behaved young ones whose worst behaviour is donuts on the sand. The bloke and his truck may never see the beach again. Just a thought, the middle road, does that have a camera, or is it only the beach entry on the Eastern side.? Sort of defeats the purpose , otherwise.

So I guess that could mean all entry and exit points. Would be an even better deterrent than just the beach side entrance.

Yeah but they are clsoing (or have closed) all the good roads on Starddie - particulary the mine road down to the keyholes. Now it involes a walk in from the beach.

Beach permit prices have escalated dramatically too in recent times and needing several permits if you vist several places is stupid. Ought to be one permit to cvover all beach driving. Or at least divide the state into two or three regions.

As it is if you wantewd ot drove from Noosa North Shore up to Rainbow beach, then on to Fraser Island yo0u;d need at least two permits.
Also the expense of the Bribie permits is painful if you're only likely to drive on the beach there a couple of times in a year.

And what's worst is that, as usual, it only effects people doing the right thing.
There are plenty of knob-ends out there who pay nothing and get away with it.
Several years ago i saw a beach permit that was clearly faked but from a distance it looked fine and would be unlikely to attract attention.
