Where's Easo when we need him?
No, particularly spread out, but tanks are difficult to spread. Oshkosh make transporter for the Abrams. But driving a fleet of M1070s from Wacol to, say, Barcaldine is a far cry from driving the same fleet from Berlin to Baghdad.
Personally, I’d love to see what the kind folk at Marulan would make of them.

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I thought everything went via Marulan.
I know that, Ian. My point about the inability of roads to handle the Abrams was made specifically around the Cold War situation re East vs West Germany, and the likelihood of the tanks being deployed. They would not have been floating the things, they would have been driving them in their hundreds down the public roads. Sure, the Abrams has 'road friendly' rubber pads in the tracks, but nobody believes that they work.

Heck, I was in the military, Mike. I had a bit to do with the Leyland Scammell and 56 wheel tank transports for the Centurion. I know they can move the things, but it ain't just a phone call. Moving them from Berlin to Baghdad took a mountain of logistics. I also know that things have moved on since even Desert Shield.
Can we agree that Abrams Tanks are big, at least??? sheesh.....
