I don't have a Smartphone.
I'm having trouble downloading the App.
About six million, so it's a couple of million below the target. It also hasn't done much, only being used once for tracing. And the bugs are unresolved.
But its good that case numbers are low, except in Victoria and NSW.
How did the Covidsafe app go from being vital to almost irrelevant?

I struggle to understand the notion that the app has become irrelevant. I can accept that it might be perceived as irrelevant, but that is quite a different matter.
The main reason I don't see it as having become irrelevant is that I never believed that it would be useful while infection numbers were low. Manual tracking seems to be doing a fairly good job of that.
My understanding was that the app was just an extra tool that health authorities would find useful if there was an increase in the number of infections. That would make manual tracking more difficult.
With relaxed restrictions, there is quite likely to be an increase in infections and in that case health authorities will find it helpful to have the app available as an extra tool to use for tracking.
I wonder if those who think it is irrelevant had an unrealistic expectation of the reason for the app and what it could achieve. Surely it was just something that would help a bit, not something that was some sort of magic bullet.

Hi,
I think of it as a reserve parachute, good to have, but hope to not need it.
Cheers
NSW people are about to find out if the ap is irrelevant, if opening up causes a second wave of infections. I guess that makes NSW people into guinea pigs for the rest of us.
I had forgotten about the app. what a waste that was.
