I have had several spells in hospital since I have had a beard - bone spur on foot, ear removal, hernia, and have never lost more than the minimum necessary for the operation.

Had the trim downstairs for an angiogram a bit over a year ago. (no stent needed).

    Sure beats having a bypass.
Anything beats a bypass... the leg they harvest the graft from (usually the Great Saphenous Vein) can get thicker, slower circulation etc. - Too many of my R shoes are now overly tight to wear. plus a % of patients can have a cognitive decline several years afterwards...

Given what I NOW know, I may have declined or delayed my by-passes back in 2016.

I should have asked more questions and had the answers in print...

Had stents before, very much a non-event. Disappointing also, as the (groin) scars cannot be shown off to garner 'sympathy'.
    - Sternal wounds are.... Impressive.

Waking up sans beard is not as bad as someone I know, who went in to hospital to have some polyps removed, when he woke up he found 17 stitches in his chest, apparently they hit a blood vessel, so had to open him up, people said he should sue, but he was just happy to be alive.

    Exactly, we're not in America.

A sound explanation and apology may have sufficed - IF delivered on time... Leaving me to discover it later, and then NO rational reason offered is beyond bad manners.
Beard is a long way from a TU kidney stone removal !
