Thanks Ian. (Ok, I know my name ain't Steve) Fascinating stuff of the old days. No Chainsaws, just the sound of Axe & Adze.

That bridge is only a year older than me. Did I actually say that?

My Grandfather worked on that bridge. EDIT. Caught many a fish off that old bridge.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Not only a year older but coincidentally the last spike was driven in on my birthday, Sept 7 but of course I hadn't been born by then & the world had to look forward with uncertainty to another year without me.

I hope it was worth the wait.

Bob, was your grandfather also called Mr Ten?

I rode a deadly treadly across that bridge, after it was closed to motorised traffic. Great idea, until I realised I had to ride the darned thing back again!

When on the old bridge in the school's 20 seater bus, if the majority of passengers moved to the rear and started bouncing up and down in time to the compression/expansion of the shockies on the undulating bridge surface, it was possible to get the front wheels of the bus to become airborne, much to the displeasure of the driver.

Were you & your lot of hooligans trying to collapse the bridge/Viaduct before it's time?

I'll have you know, Mr. 4Bee, that we were polite, well behaved and shining examples of what good, Catholic schoolboys from the Peninsula were like!

De la, De la, De la Salle,
Pack your ports and go to hell.

Was the cry of my band of ruffians from the neighbouring, mundane seat of learning.
