The hand of God takes Diego Maradona.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

The hand of god had nothing to do with it - he just succumbed to the excesses of his life.

So you didn't see the irony in the post? I think we all agree about his lifestyle.

The boy from the slums just couldn't handle his new found fame. It's a puzzle as to why the Argentinian people put him up on a pedestal. I guess the last word should come from Maradona himself.

Maradona: The magic and madness that made a legend (thenewdaily.com.au)

On the America sports website Theringer.com, writer Guillermo Blanco was quoted about a night he’d once spent around a home-town campfire with an older and wiser Maradona.

On the fame and his missteps, Blanco recalled the legend uttering perhaps his most tragic sentence: “What the people have to understand is that Maradona is not a machine for making them happy.”

Maradona, why the English can't let go of the hand of God, and why Latin Americans love it.

    Hmm interesting article.
Lots of it is bollox in my opinion, but still interesting nonetheless.

Stating that the reason a few England football fans still hold a grudge is rooted in their sense of empire is a bit of a stretch!
And anyone who remembers England football teams from the 80s will find the idea of them being 'superior' as a bit laughable The hand of God takes Diego Maradona.
Seems the author had the empire narrative and wanted to crowbar the football context in regardless.

Anyway, RIP Maradona, he was a football genius.
