    The Dugites were the only snakes which i almost stepped on while running near Perth. Tigers are run of the mill here near the Yarra river. Lucky day when we see them. They are of course seeing us a lot more than we see them

    I think the Tiger snake is a beautiful snake. And relatively placid in a snakey sort of way. The Taipan, however, a different story.

    The weather is warming up and the birds/frogs/rodents are attracted to the water so the snakes are their for a feed.
    Absolutely nothing unusual about that, So if you dont like snakes simply stay away from their feeding areas during summer.

    Don't think any one said they didn't like snakes. As a matter of fact, this is really an article about the beauty of snakes, glad to see you are an advocate. Lot's of Tigers on Carnac Island.

    I reckon Tassie is an Island full of snakes. I've never come across so many in my visits. My first encounter was on a high school trip, we did a short hike from Lake St.Clair to Mt Rufus. I think it was 11 kms and we encountered 17 snakes on the track. One kid accidently stood on one. Lucky he wasn't bitten.
    Every visit since I came across those big Black Tiger snakes whilst fishing.

    The snake I fear is the King Brown. ( Mulga snake) they're big , fast and cantankerous, came across them a lot in the Snowy mountains. whilst fishing.

    Ever camped in the high country in Summer - can’t walk 3 feet without tripping over a Brown or Tiger - you just be careful is all.

    Black Mamba and Taipan , I have seen both , and both give me the shivers,.....and I have enjoyed decades in the bush and farming in Tassie, where the copperhead and tiger are old friends.

    When I was working at the Palmer River, Cape York, I was grading the haul road with the Cat 12E , and came up to a snake , I stopped so as not to run over it, and the ungrateful serpent set about striking the front wheel. I tilted the wheels towards and away from it, and it struck repeatedly,until I backed away.

    Back in camp I related the story, the QUEENSLANDERS all said ‘ bleedin Taipan ay “
